I am assuming the drive E:/ refers to your dvd or cd drive, if so it may be faulty and need replacing, but the only thing to try and resolve it other than having to buy a new one is: control panel>device manager(or system icon)>hardware tab, look down list for Cd/DVD drives, click + sign right click on drive and select uninstal. Restart pc and it will install itself, see if it works and shows in my computer, if not the drive needs to be replaced.

Samsung R510 (Vista) won't read discs any more, I have tried everything. I think the Driver is out of date but I'm unsure of how to update it, as it states that the "driver is up to...

It could a "hardware-failure", i.e., a "dead" optical drive, even though the correct device-drivers are loaded. Take the computer to a qualified technician, for trouble-shooting, and possible replacement of the optical drive.

I have a IBM thinkpad A21m 2628, when it tries to start up I get an error message NTLDR is missing could someone please help! Thanks \r\nsue

Either the disk-drive is "dying" (implying that the 'NTLDR' file cannot be read from the disk-drive),
or you have a CD-disk in the CD-ROM drive (remove it, and restart)
or the file-system on your disk-drive is "corrupted" (compare to a scrambled table-of-contents for a set of encyclopedia -- when scrambled, you cannot find anything, although all the volumes are present).

Take your computer to a professional technician, for trouble-shooting, and repair.

When i switch it on, it just says on the screen No bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key well i have no disk drive, how do i do this?i cant even get past that screen

First insert a restore disk inot the driver as first option. once the computer is unable to recognise that as well, a storage device is missing.

Hi my laptop wont read dvds cd's etc.. driver was updated it said it is fine. tryed trouble shooting in help but cant find any thing. when disk inserted a screen pops up saying to insert a disk.

now the most probable cause for this is the ribbon connector inside your laptop coming loose or malfunctioning,id check that first. If you can take it apart slowly and delicately-good luck!

I have a Toshiba Satellite U505 pc laptop that was working earlier today. I was in the middle of showing a video to a friend when it just shut down. I turned it on again and the Toshiba screen showed up...

My guess is that the disk-drive inside the computer has "died".
So, the copy of Windows cannot be read from the disk-drive.
So, all you get is the blinking-cursor.

Take your computer (and the original "System Restore" disks) and your power-adapter to a qualified technician, for trouble-shooting, and probable replacement of the disk-drive, and reinstallation of Windows.

Driver pioneer dvd-rw dvr-k17lf is skill

I had the same problem with my Toshiba .I thought the dvd-rw-dvr was bad. After diagnosing the problem, I found out the device was working ok but the driver was missing or corrupted. After uninstalling and disabling a few times windows 7 couldn't fix the problem. I went to the control panel right clicked on devices and printers. Pictures of the devices showed up on a screen. One pic was "Jim's computer" showing at the bottom of the pic was a small yellowish icon indicating a problem with the device. I right clicked on the device,"Jim's computer", and a menu appeared. Near the bottom of the menu was an item which said "trouble shoot". I clicked on it and bingo. I followed the directions and loaded a filter driver. The DVD was fixed.

DVD/CD-ROM drive missing

Problem with missing dvd-drive with Acer 5101 solved.
Problem was that depending on boot, even bios couldn?t detect dvd-drive. I
opened my laptop and found out that there were one small screw that wasn?t
connected to anywhere. I opened the screw that locks dvd-drive in to 2.5? slot. In the back of the
dvd-drive is L- shaped peace of metal. One of it?s screws were already dropped
and 2 that were left were loose. I tightened those screws, but drive back and
got my laptop working fine.

Please feel free to post this solution to other forums as

In my laptop sound devices are not working , if i go for trouble shoot its asking for audio driver to enable audio devicess

it sounds like your laptop is missing an audio driver. the easy way to try to fix this is by using windows update - a lot of times, device drivers will be included in these updates and will save you the trouble of finding them.

if that doesn't work, go to your manufacturer's web site and find your computer's model in the drivers and downloads section. then, find the audio driver listed for your model in the list and download and install it.

that should fix your problem
