Question about Heating & Cooling

3 Compressor in 6 years. Is this normal? As a consummer iam left with no warranty and support...

I have a Fujitsu heat & Cool reverse cycle ASU12R1A with AOU12R1 wall mounted system. I bought this unit in 2003 in Canada from a Fujitsu retailer. On May 2006 the system went down. It was determined the compressor failed. The unit was fixed under warranty. The system went down again Dec 2006. Same issue repeats itself including coverage for warranty. The system fails again April 2009. The retailer claims that the system is down again because of the compressor, which is not covered anymore. The retailer claims that Fujitsu is not responsible anymore? I have written to Fujitsu for assistance in this matter and waiting for a distributor to contact me. Questions: 1. Is it normal for a Compressor to be faulty 3 times in 6 years ? 2.Is there a recall that I should know about? 3. Is the retailer possibly responsible for wrong dianostic, and where does this leave me? I will ask the same questions when a Distributor from Fujitsu contacts me... Multi-Compressor Failures
1st time a compressor fails the service tech is suppose to determine the cause of the
Failure and fix it. Is it no oil return or oil being washed out of compressor do to low sump superheat,
liquid slugging do to thermostatic expansion valve or orifice flooding compressor, starving
for refrigerant do to thermostatic expansion valve or orifice not supplying enough refrigerant to keep the compressor cool, or is the reversing valve shifting properly or electrical, such as bad defrost board, capacitor, relay or electric component or connection, etc.
With multi-compressor failures until you determine the cause and fix it you will keep having this problem
And when a heat pump compressor fails if it’s a burn out, such as electric short or long running at high temperatures and pressures or low on refrigerant level not enough cooling back to the compressor, Causing the refrigerant to break down and create an acid. You need to check the oil in the bad compressor to see if there’s acid in it, then replace the compressor, reversing valve, accumulator (the oil and contaminents will accumulate here and you can‘t get it out), thermostatic expansion valve or orifice, liquid drier, suction line filter drier (if it’s on the lineset outside of the unit then you need to put it inside the unit as close to the compressor as possible).
And after running the system for a couple of days, then the liquid drier and suction filter should be replaced again, depending on how bad the burnt out was or if there‘s acid still in the system you might need to replace them again.
It’s hard to say who would be responsible but there’s something other than the compressor causing the problem and you need to find out what it is.

Why did my ac quiet blowng heat

Check the controls, this unit most likely a reverse cycle air conditioner. It can be set to cooling or to heating. The conpressor is reversed to heat or running normally to cool.
If it is not then the compressor is not working and it is just blowing room temperature air.

We just moved into a rental. It has the Fugitsu wall-mounted Air-conditioner model: ar-jw2 but, there was no manual left behind and we are trying to use the heat, however, it just blows cool air, we're not...

Look, if you select a temperature above ambient temperature, it will switch from cooling to heating.(assuming that the aircon has a heat pump. most do these days.) Just dont rush the aircon because every time you make a setting change, it takes a while to regulate.

I have a fujitsu asta18lcc when you turn it on there is no operation. The louvers open and the timer and operation lights blink 5 times then there is a 6-7 second pause then the cycle repeats

Below is an extract straight from the fujitsu service manual:

Compressor location error
The compressor speed does not synchronze with the control signal. (Including start up failure of the compressor).
> permanent stop.
[Diagnosis Point]
Check if 2-way valve or 3-way valve is left open.
Check the compressor (Winding resistance value, loose lead wire).
Refrigeration cycle defective (Refer to after mentioned "refrigerant cycle diagnosis")

Compressor starts/stops alot. Compressor is hot coils are cool

Have you checked the power and the amps going to the compressor? Your compressor is getting hot and then it is freezing up and trying to going into cycle but the piston over heats and the relay cuts out the compressor, that is why when you let it cool down it works ok. You will need to get a new compressor. If you have a warranty the compressor is covered

Unit never used--won't cool

I would call and get a couple other estimates. If it has never been used, the compressor is probably not bad.

I have a goodman acu model PGB030075-1A and it does not heat. The site glass is dark, not lit.

you can install a straight cool t stat that heats with the backup heat strip only. you can cool with ac only but using the heat pump reverse cycle will be a cheaper sourse of heat.have a pro look at it and give you some options. technology is changing so fast the best decision might be a new systemwith a new 10 year parts and labor warranty.
