Question about CD Players

Open Question

Grundig SCD888 Radio/CD player

The radio works fine, the CD seems to work but after playing a couple of tracks it stops. I have tried changing the CD but it refuses to play the next one at all. I just hear a whirring noise.

SOURCE: CD-MP3 Player stops after playing a specified number of Track

Check your lens on the it dirty? IF so it needs to be cleaned....STOP !!!......the laser lens is on the focusing mechanism, which is EXTREMELY delicate.

TO clean the lens, get a Q-Tip and some distilled water ( the lenses are plastic, so do not EVER use alcohol, cleaners, window cleaners,etc... on the lens. These will make the lens cloudy and you will then have to replace the mechanism).

Moisten the Q-tip ( Not to the point where it is dripping, but just moist ), and CAREFULLY clean all dust and dirt off the lens. Wait 10 minutes untill the lens has dried completely and try it then.

Hopefully this solved your problem. Dirt is the enemy of all Optically read formats.

Good luck... Rob

SOURCE: CD player won't play disk and says "no disk"

The problem of "'no discs'"displayed is in the mechanism in the roller thats moving back and port bringing the lense set .The old grease thier is already hardened that cause the problem.Clean that by using a lighter fluid or like that fluid to take the old grease, and put it with a new one first class grease type-A grease put only a little grease and wipe the lense with a cotton buds without any chemicals on it .Try this solution so performance will be better.

SOURCE: cd player starts, but stops play by 2nd track

Sounds like tracking motor and/or gear problem!
Check for a small crack on the tracking gear.
Parts not avalible from Bose though, they'll only
fix as a "flat rate"!

Cd keeps skeeping

You can try to clean it with a soft cloth. I would check the disk for scratches. If that doesn't work, you can try it in a different player. If it works in a different player, the other player needs cleaned or replaced. It is possible the disk is damaged beyond repair.

CD players have a certain amount of mechanical parts to them that a radio does not. If the cd is not turning at the right speed, or the last is not tracking properly then it will not work. Even a small amount of dirt on the lens will cause it to stop working.

The cd player won't play, radio works fine

Do you fell comfortable to open the unit and try to clean the lens?
If so, use a q-tip and ideally 90% alcool and gently clean the lens and make sure you dry with the other end of the tip.

Hope that helps!

Good luck!

Player stuck in scan mode

Unplug it from the wall...give it a couple minutes. Try playing a CD again (using manual controls) If that works , your remote might be the issue.

If you bought the thing new you paid good $$ for it.

It's worth having it looked at by a Pro.
