I have and IBM Thinkpad R40. Its been working fine for the five years that I have been usin g it. Yesterday the laptop was turned on the whole night and when i woke up in the morning, i saw a blank screen, so I just swtched it off. But when I tried to switch it on again, the screen lights up but remains blank. I can hear the start up music and all that but the screen is blank. I connected the laptop to my desktop monitor and it works fine.
Any ideas on what I should do??

ccfl ( cold cathode flouroscent lamp ) is the backlit feature of the lcd panel.
If you see a blank screen but do see the output on the external monitor then you sure have to take it to the hardware tech to get the inbuilt LCD panel checked.
it seems to be a electronic failure.
Thanks
Ashish.
