My dishwasher does not start when I turn it on.

Is there a picture to show where I look for it at? This is my first dishwasher and really know nothing about the insides of them.

    It's a Frigidaire FDB510LCS3

  • RPFDan Apr 21, 2009

I looked at the pictures and diagram and it's still difficult. Difficult because whoever installed it when they bought the dishwasher made it practically impossible to pull it out from under the counter. I do however by looking underneath of it see a white electrical cord of sorts that goes from a silver/metal box near the front to the back and then into the floor. I assume that it goes under the house and plugs into something underneath which I will check out tommorrow. Would the fuse be visible looking underneath or should I look for it underneath the house?

  • RPFDan Apr 21, 2009

It's not a dead end for me. I will continue to work to get it pulled out from the counter. I cannot see what is keeping it from coming out but I will keep trying. Once I do this, would it be back towards the back of the dishwasher or where exactly to look for it because the pictures are a little unclear to decipher for me.

  • RPFDan Apr 22, 2009

I have searched my dishwasher for a fuse and do not see one but I have a family member who works with appliances coming by tonight to look at it. However, I e-mailed frigidaire and they said that my dishwasher does not have a fuse. Is that possible or are they just trying to make me have to use a service provider? Please advise.

  • RPFDan Apr 22, 2009

I found out today that my Frigidaire dishwasher does not have a fuse. We did however find that the buttons light up but when you turn the knob like I said, nothing happens. So now knowing this, that the buttons lightup but nothing happens when you turn the knob, are we able to narrow it down to what it might be?

    To replace the dishwasher timer...

Open dishwasher door and removed screws that hold front panel onto access control panel.

Remove timer knob from from front of dishwasher (Just pulls off)

and unscrew two screw that hold timer on.

    Unplug timer

Replace with new timer and everything goes back the same way it was taken apart.

The motor/pump unit should be tested for voltage.

If you have a DMM verify proper voltage at the motor and at the inlet valve.

    Is the timer new?

CLICK HERE for a diagram of the motor.

If there is no power to the motor - your next check would be the door latch sensor. If it's not recognizing the door shut - it wont start the cycle. ( i believe this is incorporated in the door latch assembly in your case). CLICK HERE #12

The issue could be with the following:

  • Door latch. Make sure door is closed and properly latched.
  • Delay start option. If delay start option is available, has it been set and is unit still in time delay before starting.
  • Cycle setting. Check to see if cycle is set correctly (refer to Operating Instructions in the "Use & Care Manual").

  • Check the following the let me know, also let know what is displayed.

    Thanks

    Hi RPFDan,

    thank you for using fixya.

what is the brand and model of your washer?

With regard to your issue on your dishwasher not turning on, there is a strong possibility that the fuse for its power supply may have been broken.

The fuse of dishwashers are usually located near the power supply (where your cord goes out off the appliance and to the outlet), this can easily be replaced, and most brand's fuses are available in stores like walmart, radioshack, etc.

should you have other questions, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    regards,

    voodoo

      thank you for replying RDFDan,

The model's interface was actually different for every year model, but I was able to get some pictures where you may locate the fuse.

You may see dryers, washers, but the circuit of fridigair is almost the same for every applicance.

wow, it sure looks like the washer was wall / floor mounted. worst part is if the mounts and attachments are rounded up and there is no physical way to have it dettached.

the chances of us locating the fuse underneath is 1/20, because like what i said, the interfaces are different.

having the washer removed from its mount is still the best way to locate the damaged part and have it replaced.

my apologies for a possible dead/end until there is a way for us to free the washer. you may accept the answers to your question as desired, im looking forward to working with you again or having this matter fixed.

      regards,

      voodoo

    Sir,

Some of the first things to check would be, did the water accidentally get turned off to the dishwasher? You need a volt meter to check for voltage at the fill valve, then go from there. If you have voltage to the fill valve, than the valve is bad, provided you have water pressure to the dishwasher. If you do not have voltage to the fill valve, then the wiring needs to be traced back to the control board and check for voltage there. The overflow switch could be bad also. Also check the door switch(es). If there is a cancel/drain function, try that with the door closed. If it operates, then the door switch(es) should be good.

    Thanks Good Luck

Siemens dishwasher- start button is flashing but will not start. some water in bottom of dishwasher.

Did you try turning off the circuit breaker to it, waiting about 15 minutes and turning it back on?

If that doesn't do it, I would start by checking your drain pump.
