One black switch wire connects to the hot wire for the lights which is probably blue in color.

The other black switch wire connects to the black wire(s) going to the light bulb sockets.

This is kinda confusing -- maybe if we keep working it, we can figure it out.

The light socket(s) should each have a black and white wire. The black goes to the switch, the white goes to the white(s) coming from the ceiling box. If there is only wire coming from the light sockets, this is either a very unusual light kit or the wires have been removed. The sockets have to connect in some way back to the white (neutral) wire in the ceiling box.

The black pull-switch-wire would attach to the black light-socket wire with a wire nut -- is this what you are asking?

SOURCE: 2 wire chain pull light switch. One blac/one white. which wire goes to which terminal

The gold terminal is usually the "hot" terminal (black wire), the silver terminal is "neutral" (white wire). Remember to turn off the power before you work on it.

Wiring is not fully described: Location of hot wire and neutral wire from breaker box are unknown.
If Hot wire arrives in ceiling box first, the switch box will not have white neutral wires that are twisted together and covered with wire nut. Neutrals will be in ceiling box.

What is known: You are replacing single pole switch attached to one 14-2 wire going to light.
You are replacing light with a fan-light and replacing switch with a 3-pole TM8111 switch.
You have replaced 14-2 wire with 12-3 wire.

TM8111 wiring shows following link:

Fan pull-chain wiring shows following link:

Assume neutrals in ceiling box.
Assume Hot wire in ceiling box: Connect 12-3 black wire to black Hot wire. Connect 12-3 white wire to black wire on light. Connect 12-3 red to red wire on fan.
White neutral from fan and white neutral form light connect to other white neutral wires and covered with wire nut.
Wiring at switch:
Black Hot wire from ceiling box connects to A COM terminal.
White wire to ceiling light connects to A SP2
Red wire to fan connects to A SP1

The pulley chain broke on the light on my ceiling fan and there is no slack to turn the light on or off. Can you please tell me how to fix or replace pulley?

To replace chain switch with a new one (available at a hardware store), first turn off power to the fan. Unscrew the nut on the bottom of the fan which holds the coverplate in place. Find two wires going to the switch, pull them out of the enclosure, take the wire nuts off. Now you can take the old switch out by unscrewing the locking nuts that hold it in place. Put the new switch in by reversing the instructions for removal.
Good Luck.

Replacing a ceiling fan pull chain light switch.

that is strange
normally a 3 wire switch could only be able to control 2 things + off. black would be common, red would be one fan speed or set of lights and blue would be the other fan speed or set of lights.
if it is a replacement, couldn't you just hook it up like the switch you are removing?

most likely the black wires are grounds for everything and white would be power. hook it up however you like. white power would hook up to the black wire on the switch and then the blue to one light and red to the other set of lights white wires.
good luck!

I need a pull chain DIMMER switch for my fan light. Only one set of wires supplies the fan and light. Surely SOMEBODY has a pull chain dimmer ??? Thanks. Bill

Bought three fans for the bedrooms, all hunters with pull chain dimmers. Less than one year and two of the three dimmers are shot. Can't find a replacement so I bypassed it. Remove light assembly and unplug 9pin connector. Remove black vented dimmer assembly by removing wire nuts and disconnecting the 2wire connector(black and white wires). Cut the 2wire connector off and save it in case you find a part someday. Wire nut black to black(hot) and white to white(neutral). You will disable the pull chain by wire nutting those two wires together.
