A yellow blob in the middle of the Screen

My problem is that I have a yellow blob in the middle of the screen. Is this a heat problem? Do I have to change or check the fans? or I should be using the stand at the back of this projector? thank you very much Alexandros Viaginis

Recently, I had exactly the same problem on my VPl CX1 but also found the solution on the web. It is overheating. I cleaned the filter that is underneath the projector and also raised it slightly (resting on the lens cover and rear stand) for better air flow. Problem least for me.

Hi my Sony KDF-E50A10 has a yellow blob in middle of the screen. Tried changing the bulb and yellow blob was worse. any suggestions?

Your Optic blog has failed. The bulb will not fix that. There was a class aciton lawsuit against Sony about this a few years ago. The Optic block must be replaced(only posibble fix) Sony Rear Projection LCD TV

To fix it out of pocket would be ridiculously expensive($800+). Return the lamp or use it until the image is too bad to watch. Then treat yourself to a new TV.

I am well versed on this issue and would not recommend fixing this

I have a Hitachi CP-S240 projector. It works fine but now projects a yellow blob on the screen. It looks as if someone took a highlighter and colored on the lens - I cleaned the lens and that is not the...

I work for a company where we take care of around 7,000 projectors. We have recently come across this same issue in this model and several other Hitachi models. We have figured out that it seems to be a main board issue, after testing and checking of the lenses and other things. The main board ended up being the fix. Hope this helps!

Hitachi rear projection LCD with yellow blobs on screen

I have the same tv and the same problem, but my yellow is a cloud around the outside of the screen. My tv was recently moved, and a repair shop told me that sometimes in a move these tvs light engine takes a shock and causes a yellow "band" on the screen. I am hearing that these light engines are not cheap either. Hope this helps you.

Hitachi Television Yellowing on the screen

Suggest you call Hitachi and complain. There is an issue with all projection LCD tvs (not just Hitachi) was that the light engine assembly did not have enough vents for cooling. This translates in a green or yellow blob that starts small and grows larger because the LCD screen frame starts to deform with the heat. Guess they did not test with young kids in the house and the tv on more than it is off :-). In March I managed to get Hitachi to pay for the part and I paid for the labor to get this fixed (out of warranty). The new light engine supposedly is better at cooling though I do see a faint 1/4 inch band of green at the bottom of the screen. Blackburn Electronics in Anderson IN has fixed many of these in the Indianapolis area.
