I connect to my laptop to scan pictures, and each time, each single time the scanner will start scanning an inch but it stops and I get the message Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check status. Scanner driver will be closed. Code: 2,155,0" The closest I get is it will scan one or two, but same problem persists. Today I totally cannot scan one thing! What is wrong? I've tried everything...

- i have found the problem: the cable. must swap the cable for a better one.
-   I uninstalled....re-installed the program step by step. Problem still persists. I removed other printer drivers...re-booted and still has proble. Went to the Cannon Users site and down loaded suggested drivers and still have same proble. I believe Cannon needs to fix this problem by sending out a driver that takes care of the problem for all!-   bizzyman45
I had the same problem with a new Canon MP970. Printed ok, but couldn't communicate with the scanner - error 2,155,0. Canon phone support didn't help, and suggested it was a firewall problem. I uninstalled, and re-installed, turning off firewall, virus software, and everything. No luck. Tried several USB cables, no luck. Then I uninstalled again - as well as a couple of old drivers and software associated with two now deceased printer/scanners. This time I plugged the (same) USB in and turned on the device, using Windows' own hardware install wizard. Now it works fine (at least for now... touch wood). So - the problem might be either conflict with other printer/scanner devices installed, or with Canon's installation software. ...

thats right............pay a bit more and get a better cable...it will probably cost round 150/ inr
1. Scan for viruses 2. Repair Your HDD using Scandisk or related Program 3. Rollback drivers and reinstall them 4. Replace Cables if necessary 5. Check your power Sources
Hope this helps

Hi I had the same problem, at first I thought that it was the original drivers (the ones I got with the printer) so I donwloaded the drivers from the canon website, this did not resolve the problem. What I also tried and it worked for me was connecting the printer to the computer with it's original usb cable. I bought a couple of weekes ago a usb extension cable (about 5 m long). With this extension cable I can print but I can't scan any document, it just gives me the same error. Hope this works also for you. Bye PS: My printer is a Canon Pixma MP190

Just got a cable from my other HP printer & it works fine now... seems that the scanner uses the full bandwidth of the usb cable.. long/bad-badquality cables will not work... cheerz'

The same problem with MP970. More: it scan 35-mm films normally, but cant operate with paper (copying withouth computer OK, obviosly all device "own procedures" work properly. I was upset, thanks for hope! :)
Will try to replace cable to shorther (now 3 m), USB bandwith - good idea.
when i use me scanner it stops after one inch of scanning then an erroe apper told me that the cable maybe not connected or the scanner maybe turned off. code 2,155,0
i have a Canon pixma mp180, and each time I tried to scan it gives me the error code "Cannot communicate with scanner. Code 2,155,0" But the same printer with the same new cable worked faultlessly at 2 other locations.
I have installed and re-installed, I have changed the usb cable, changed the usb port. Yet I keep getting the same error code.
