Question about Canon PIXMA MP160 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I connect to my laptop to scan pictures, and each time, each single time the scanner will start scanning an inch but it stops and I get the message Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check status. Scanner driver will be closed. Code: 2,155,0" The closest I get is it will scan one or two, but same problem persists. Today I totally cannot scan one thing! What is wrong? I've tried everything...
I had the same problem, at first I thought that it was the original drivers (the ones I got with the printer) so I donwloaded the drivers from the canon website, this did not resolve the problem. What I also tried and it worked for me was connecting the printer to the computer with it's original usb cable. I bought a couple of weekes ago a usb extension cable (about 5 m long). With this extension cable I can print but I can't scan any document, it just gives me the same error. Hope this works also for you.

I had the same problem with a new Canon MP970. Printed ok, but couldn't communicate with the scanner - error 2,155,0.
Canon phone support didn't help, and suggested it was a firewall problem. I uninstalled, and re-installed, turning off firewall, virus software, and everything. No luck. Tried several USB cables, no luck.
Then I uninstalled again - as well as a couple of old drivers and software associated with two now deceased printer/scanners.
This time I plugged the (same) USB in and turned on the device, using Windows' own hardware install wizard.
Now it works fine (at least for now... touch wood).
So - the problem might be either conflict with other printer/scanner devices installed, or with Canon's installation software.

Toshiba1 is right. I fixed same problem by changing the cable. Also, don't use USB extension cables.

First of all you need a usb 2.0 connection on PC. This tipes of multifuncionals don`t work properly on USB 1.0 for exemple.

I faced the same problem. Now i'm able to scan my document/pix after replacing a new usb cable. thanks a lot to your suggestion.Problem solved:)

Got the same message code 2,155,0 and fixed the problem by removing a USB Stick that was in one of the USB ports on the computer!! Must have been conflict caused.
So try removing as many devices connected to your computer by USB cable and try again.

I had the same problem with my MP250. I got the same message but the error code was 2,155,13. Replacing the USB cable didn't make it work.
I could scan only at the lowest resolution, at any higher resolution it would raise that error message. The preview function was working anyway.
I've solved it by plugging out some USB devices, such as memory sticks.

I had the same error even after changing the cable, port, and re-installing but still got the same error. im using the canon primax mp145. My solution was that i connected to the front USB port and then i could scan again. i dnt know what suggestion or solution im putting out but it worked for me.

Finally I got it to work , first I tried changing the cable & driver but still it did not work then I changed the compatibility of the MP Navigator EX 4.0 to Windows XP sp2 also used Run as administrator command and it worked like a charm ! Real Magic

I had the same problem with my MP190
I've just realized that have to change the place of the cable (in the PC) 'coz my webcam and my printer were connected in wrong places

Just got a cable from my other HP printer & it works fine now... seems that the scanner uses the full bandwidth of the usb cable.. long/bad-badquality cables will not work... cheerz'

Buy a new Cable (Double shielded, length <=2m)
