I have a LCD TV/DVD combo [1513-TDXB] that all the sudden will not play DVDs; cannot get the menu from the remote. When you push the DVD into the set it just sits there; if you push it in too far it won't eject. Is it worth getting fixed or just plug in a DVD player next to it

thanks...I wasn't keen on a combo unit when we bought this on sale. I agree an inexpensive side kick will be better

Hi,
It seems you need to replace DVD assembly in this combo unit and of course that will cost you much because it would only available in Polaroid Service Center.

If your TV-DVD Combo is under warranty then ask warranty cover from Polaroid Customer Service and if it does not have valid warranty, a DVD Player unit is better choice to hook with it. That will save good money.

Thanks.

We have a Polaroid 15 inch LCD television with a built-in dvd player. It also allows for jumpdrive connection. I must be missing something but we cannot figure out how to play a dvd. I put a dvd...

Do you have the Polaroid 1513-TDXB? I assume you have tried the eject button on the side of the TV (the lowest button next to the DVD slot). There are a few things that can cause a DVD to jam and not be recognized by the drive: put in the disc label side to the back of the TV, home disc with a glued on label (if the label comes loose), two discs in the slot or non-standard optical discs.

Some slot optical drives have a manual eject hole on one side of the slot; it should be near the top of the slot on this unit. Straighten a paperclip and try pushing on the release mechanism inside that hole. (A small paperclip is the correct size.) Sometimes pushing the optical disc with a second optical disc will bump it loose (be careful you do not want the disc to be dragged into the drive). Another possible solution is to pry the disc up off the spindle with a credit card. (Note: trying this could damage the disc and the drive.) A similar card with double sided sticky tape can sometimes lift the disc off the spindle. Stick the tape on the card, then peel the paper off the other side of the tape. Insert the card to be on the top of the disc (sticky side towards the back of the TV) and press it down on the disc. Lift up slightly and pull the card and optical disc out.

If the disc has partially ejected, two credit cards (one above and one below) can grab it. Turning the TV on its side so that the optical drive is pointing to the ground can also work.

There are a few things to check once you get the disc out. Were there scratches or other problems that would keep the drive from seeing the disc? Other optical drive issues are dirt on the lens and the tracking unit failing on the drive. Blowing the dirt out of the drive may help. Otherwise, it needs to be fixed or replaced which means getting it out of the TV.

The manual for the TV is available at this review site: http://www.hdtvreview.com/Polaroid-1513-TDXB-hdtv.html . The direct link to the manual is http://www.hdtvreview.com/pdf/polaroid-1513-tdxb-manual.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Lg dvdcombo region codes

I have just hacked an LG 32LG4000 combo tv/dvd. To open up the dvd to multi region, turn on the tv & press the menu/set up button. Next, navigate to the lock symbol but do not open the sub menu. Press 0 seven times. Exit out of the menu, and your 'on board' dvd player will play dvd's from any region!

Wont Play DVD

any remote should work but i suggest a name brand like sony logitech or phillips because you dont want to have to replace this for a while and namebrands offer more functions than generics.

As for the dvd not playing dvds it appears the parental lock may be enabled preventing movies from starting after previews .

after you obtain the new remote and have programmed it scroll through the tvs set up menu to see if parental lock function is on if not drop me a line so we can narrow things down also try to push enter button on new remote if the play button doesnt start movie.
