Gas stove works, but oven does not

Nothing happens when I turn my oven on. The heat source at the bottom does not come on and there's no gas odor. However, the gas stove still works fine, so I know that the gas supply is working. The electricity is fine because the digital display works. Please advise. Thanks in advance! stove works but oven does not I have a model mgr4451bdw the burners work but the oven do not come on, the ignitor works but i have no gas could it be my pressure regulator

A gas oven will have some built in safety devices. Assuming that you have an electric pilot light sparking device, anything in the pilot light circuit could cause your problem

The oven does not "want" to turn the gas on unless there is an operating pilot system.

Since you never smell gas, but gas is available, then something in the pilot light circuit sounds like the culprit.

It could be as simple as carbon build up on the igniter or an internal fusing mechanism.

If you can get into the oven to the igniter, you could try cleaning the unit with a plastic scrunge.

I'm going to guess that this is not going to respond well to 'home grown' measures and that it will require replacement of parts.

Perhaps it is time to bite the bullet and call in repair......

good luck

How do I check the pilot light and relight it on a 2003 GE Gas range

The igniter coil is burnt out. The thermostat turns it on. If it does not work there will be no gas from the valve. This is a safety feature.

I have a Hot Point Gas Stove my burners all turn on but when I turn on oven nothing seems to happen

If you have a pilotless model it is very likely that your oven igniter is bad. This is fairly easy to replace. A contunuity check will show if the igniter is bad.

Oven was heating and we got HEAVY smoke....

Nothing in the elements, thermostat thermocouples are gas filled, sensors have wiring inside, nothing in the liner or insulation. You said this was a stove, and some stoves have a vent that goes up through one of the burners on the top. If you had oil splatter or drip into this it can get into your oven. We do know that some blower fans on convection ovens have a sealed oil bearing, but there would be very little oil coming out of this (drops) and you will notice your fan getting noisier or running slower in the near future. Gas smell, oven not heating up

You gas oven uses a glowbar to both regulate and ignite the gas entering the oven. If this glowbar is faulty, it might let some gas into the oven but it is not hot enough to ignite the gas. That is why you are smelling gas. I would suggest to start by replacing the glowbar (and if this is not the solution, simply return the part for a refund). The part you are looking for can be found online here: http://www.partselect.com/PartDetail.aspx?Inventory=470129&SourceCode=1

It is quite easy to replace. Simply remove the free-standing pan on the bottom of the oven, unscrew the existing glowbar, remove the back cover from the stove and trace the two wires that belong to the glowbar and unplug them. Thread the two wires from the new glowbar through the opening and reconnect to the plugs at the back of the stove. Screw in the new glowbar and test. Most oven ignition problems are caused by faulty glowbard. Good luck.

My maytag gas oven model #MGR5755QDW makes a loud poof noise when first turned on. It doesn't do it all the time and it only happens when it is first lights.

You are getting a delayed ignition fom the oven burner. Either the ports on the burner near the ignitor are clogged or you have a weak oven ignitor. part # 12400035 @ $70.00

Kenmore gas oven won't heat up

If your ignitor is coming on that means the oven control is supplying the power to the ignitor and gas valve. So the gas valve is ok because it is allowing for a complete circuit so what the heck is wrong? The ignitor MUST draw 3.5 amps in order to open the gas safety and allow the gas to come out. The ignitor must be very bright, if it is dim then it is bad. (MORE)
