Frigidaire frost free upright freezer door corner dripping

Hello Yellow, thank you for your post!

I understand that your Frigidaire freezer is dripping water out of the corner of the door. It is possible that with your power going out the heat may have caused the gasket to warp. Do you see any frost build-up? The water that is dripping could be coming from condensation within the freezer. I would recommend checking the gasket to see if it is allowing warm air to enter the freezer.

I recommend that you visually inspect the door gasket for defects such as gaps or tears. You can also use a dollar bill to test the door gasket. Place a dollar bill in between the door and the body of the freezer. If the dollar bill pulls out with no to little resistance, you may need to replace the door gasket. A faulty door gasket can allow warm air to enter the compartment and cause frost to condensation or a leak. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt

I have a Frigidaire freezer that is about 5 years old. I get ice build up inside the top of the door. The door appears to be closed.

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

1.) Due you have the freezer in your garage? Freezers and refrigerators are not designed for the drastic temperature change through the seasons. If you had a service contract, your contract would be canceled.

2.) If you can run a piece of paper between the top door gasket and the freezer body you do not have a tight seal. Repair - Recondition the gasket. Wet the door gasket with water, with a hairy dryer heat the gasket while genteelly pulling the gasket out to expand with a spatula.

3.) If the gasket is good, then you are getting moisture either thru the top front of the unit or the top of the door.
a.) Inspect the liner where the ice build-up is. Are there cracks? Repair - Seal cracks with a good silicone adhesive.
b.) Inspect the upper door section and the front top of the freezer for possible leaks in the joints. Here again seal with adhesive.
c.) If the top of the door is expanded, then you have moisture in the door and need to replace the door. You will never get the moisture out of the insulating material.

Model# RT18DKXEW05 parts

Repair clinic has booth door gaskets
the refrigerator gasket is $91.60
The freezer door gasket is $72.95

If the unit is working good it might be worth it to replace the gaskets if unit is in good shape and you only need one of the 2 gaskets I would replace it. if needs both you need to see what a replacement unit costs and make a decision

Can I replace the freezer door seal on a kitchen aid myself?

some door gaskets snap into a track and others are held on to by screws in a metal frame. you can pull the back of the gasket apart to see which you have.

are you sure that the gasket is bad? you can do the dollar bill test by placing a dollar bill between the gasket and door frame and shutting the door. if the dollar bill fits snugly and is not loose the gasket is good. However you may be able to look at your gasket and see that it is torn or warped and not sealing good.

replacing the door gasket can be a little tricky but with a little patience and some very hot water to soak the new gasket in to make it easier to work with, you should be ok.

keep the bottom of your refrigerator and freezer frames clean (this is where everything spills and gets sticky) to keep the gasket from sticking to the frame and tearing up over time.

Freezer door pops open on Whirlpool Model WB FNGF V000

Good day,
If the gasket on the freezer door mates properly to the cabinet, and the door pops open when the main door is closed, then it means the magnets embedded in the freezer door gasket, have become weak.

One thing you can do, is elevate the front of the machine slightly, and place items of weight in the door itself.
Failing that solution then.......
You will need to replace the gasket.

It should be available at most appliance parts houses.
Ask the counterman for instructions on installing. If he's good he will give you explicit instructions on how to replace the gasket.

Follow those instructions, because if the procedure isn't followed, the door may become warped, and will not fit properly.

On our Fridgidaire refrigerator - freezer door comes open

Good day,
When you close the fresh food door, air is pushed in, and forced into the freezer compartment.

Check to see if the machine is leveled. Slight tilt to the rear is ideal.

If the freezer door fits properly, then usually it is weak magnets in the door gasket, and the door gasket needs replaced.

There are specific details on how to replace a gasket. A qualified counter-man at an appliance parts house will explain the details.
Very important.
