My top freezer is producing ice on the floor of the freezer and water is dripping from the freezer to the loer level of the refrigerator.

Your refrigerator has a drain that leads to the exterior drain pan beneath the refrigerator. Occasionally this drain can become clogged resulting in standing water inside your refrigerator. A similar drain exists in the freezer, which when clogged results in ice build up on the floor of the freezer.
The drain is located either on the floor of the refrigerator, beneath the vegetable crisper, or in the wall behind a drain funnel.
Clear the drain by forcing a solution of water and bleach or water and baking soda into it with a basting syringe. If the solution will not flow through, slide a length of 1/4 inch flexible tubing into the drain tube to push the clog through to the drain pan. Remove the tubing after clearing the clog.
NOTE-(This may be a leveling issue as well)
It is important for the refrigerator to be level. If it is not level, doors may not open or close properly and may not seal tightly. Also, drainage from the defrost cycle might be impaired as might the ice making cycle. The appliance was engineered based on it being installed in a level position. While there may be some tolerance for out-of-level installation, the appliance will operate at its best when properly leveled.
Place a level on top of the refrigerator near the front. Do not put it on the door because the door may not be aligned with the refrigerator case. Check that the refrigerator is level from side to side. Next turn the level to check that it is level from front to back.
If it is not level, adjust one or more of the adjustable leveling feet until it is level. The feet are bolts that can be turned to raise or lower the refrigerator. If they cannot be adjusted with your fingers, use a crescent wrench or pliers.
If you have an ice-maker, it should also be checked for level after first leveling the refrigerator. An ice-maker that is out of level will spill water into the ice bin or into the freezer. It can be repositioned by loosening the mounting screws, adjusting it for level and then re-tightening the screws.

At the back of the freezer is locate the evaporator and below it is a drip pan to collect the water produced during the defrost cycle. Some equipment defrost every 12 hours so that is why you see the ice formation at mornings. You need to flush the drain hose by blowing with compressed air, or suction ut from its end below the outback of the unit. Also you can use a flexible ;plastic rod and carefully pass it thru the hose from the bottom ow the drip pan.

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.


Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

The defrost cycle is melting ice that will not go down the drain tube in the rear of the freezer. This can be a clogged tube due to debris, organic growths or ice blocking flow. What doesn't end up dripping into the fridge ends up freezing in the freezer compartment. Make sure the fridge is level or tilted back slightly.

Unplug the fridge from power. Remove the contents of the freezer and remove the ice maker, back wall plate and floor plate in the freezer section. Remove ice build up on the floor and tray in the freezer by thawing and soaking up water. Flush hot water (use a turkey baster to get at it) at the opening of the drain hose that is connected to the tray to thaw any ice.. once flowing to the evapraor tray under the fridge, mix up 1/2 oz of bleach and 4 oz of water and pour down the tube to kill any bacteria.

Reassemble and restock the freezer. Monitor the temperature of the fresh food (34 deg) and freezer (0 deg) compartments. If you notice the temperatures start to climb, there may be a problem with the defrost timer, terminator, etc. and may require a pro's help.

Removed everything from the freezes. Removed a false bottom from the freezer floor, 2 screws. There was an ice build up under this plastic bottom. I let the ice melt with the de-frost cycle (or frost free cycle). No more water dripping into the refrigerator compartment.

Have you changed the water filter. It should be located in the front loer grille of the refrigerator.

The system is designed to evaporate that water using the warmth of the compressor.. is your compressor warm ? (the drip tray sits on top of it) I see that model has an Ic e maker... to check that the ice maker refill is not running on too long, switch off the ice maker, by lifting the wire arm that checks the level of the ice in the storage bucket.. leave it turned off for a day or two.. empty the drain pan, and check it again after 24 hours.. but if the ice is already full, the water problem may APPEAR to be resolved already, but will return when the level drops and the ice production begins again.
If it is just condensate, then the drain pan should be able to contain the amount it produces, but 3-days straight, would indicate to me, that is not that... if your water pressure is good, it may be that the ice tray filler solenoid is being held open a fraction too long (maybe a second or so) and as the fridge is new, it will be making lots of ice to fill the container up,... so lots of small overfills.. mounting up to a full drain pan. Under normal use,.. other than parties and festive nights, when you use a lot, the water should evaporate faster than it is produced, but it shouldn't be happening at all.. if it is that, then turn the tap at the back of the fridge to where the cold water dispenser slows down slightly.. that should be enough to prevent it continuing.. IF that's the problem.

We were able to fix the freezer water leak. We unscrewed the false freezer floor and the inside back panel. Ice had accumulated on the freezer floor and the defrosting drain was frozen. We removed the ice by using a blow dryer then poured boiling hot water onto the frozen drain hole. The frozen water in the drain pipe hole eventually melted and the water released into the defrosting drip pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. Problem solved. We no longer have water leaking into the refrigerator.
