First you need two tools.

A Torx 20
&
A Torx10

Here is a website with detailed pics with step by step instructions...

As for replacement of a "Fuse"... the Xbox does not have a Fuse to replace like a car. You can however make a few changes and replace the Power Supply. If you still have trouble, or need parts / questions let me know. I have done alot of work on all the Xbox versions and still have several spare parts.

Ac adapter is red, what should i do?

This problem occurs when the power supply detects a problem. The power supply has several built-in safeguards to help prevent damage to either the console or to the power supply. The power supply will turn off if:
  • There is too much current.
  • The voltage is too high.
  • The temperature of the power supply is too high.
When any of these things happen, the light on the power turns red.
Solution 1: Make sure that the power supply is cool loadTOCNode(2, 'whattotry'); The red light might indicate that the power supply is too hot or that it has overheated. Follow these steps if the power supply light is red:
  1. Turn the console off.
  2. Disconnect your Xbox 360 Power Supply from your Xbox 360 console and from the wall outlet.

Collapse this imageExpand this image unplugpowersupply.jpg

  3. Let the power supply cool for two hours in a well-ventilated space. Do not connect the Xbox 360 power supply to the console or to the wall outlet during this time.
  4. After the power supply has cooled for two hours, reconnect the power supply to the console and to the wall outlet, and then turn the console on.
If the power supply light is still red, try the next solution.
Solution 2: Make sure that the power supply is plugged in loadTOCNode(2, 'whattotry'); Make sure that the power supply is directly plugged into a working wall outlet. Problems might occur with the power supply if it is connected through an extension cord or surge protector.

If the power supply light is still red after you connect the power supply directly to a working all outlet, try the next solution.
Solution 3: Plug the power supply into a different wall outlet loadTOCNode(2, 'whattotry'); To check the possibility that the wall outlet you are using is faulty or that there is a blown fuse, plug the power cord into a wall outlet that you know is working.

If this does not solve the problem, try the next solution.
Solution 4: Order a replacement Xbox 360 power supply loadTOCNode(2, 'whattotry'); If you've tried all the solutions above and your power supply light is still red, you should contact Xbox Support to order a replacement power supply.

To help the power supply work correctly, follow these guidelines:
  • Do not block any ventilation openings in the power supply.
  • Do not put the power supply on a bed, a sofa, or on any other soft surface that might block ventilation openings.
  • Do not put the power supply in a confined space, such as a bookcase, a rack, or a stereo cabinet, unless the space is well ventilated.
  • Do not put the power supply on a stereo speaker, an amplifier, or a heat source such as a radiator or a heat register.
  • Do not use an unlicensed accessory, such as a third-party power supply or any accessory that plugs in between the Xbox 360 console and the power supply.
  • Plug the power supply directly into a working wall outlet. The power supply might not work correctly if it is connected to an extension cord or surge protector.
hope this helps.

it could and maybe not first diagnose the problem with what i oultine below. To see if anything fits into the category of your problem. Then try to hook up the power brick to another outlet in another room. If it does it there you can narrow down the cause of the problem.

No power to the console

This has all the tell-tale signs of a blown fuse, and although I've never serviced and Xbox for this problem, I have successfully with other game systems.
I suggest opening it up and having a look for blown fuses.

360 won't power up power supply good is there a fuse

They dont have a fuse in side them , it could be dry solder joints on the main pcb where the power plug goes into the xbox, make sure you try your power supply on another xbox as well as your xbox on another power supply. Also check the led on the power supply is green when its running, if the light is orange or red(whislt running, the light will be orange when in standby) .If your led on the power supply is red , you have a faulty power supply. Good Luck.

Power brick colour

Alright, lets fix this!
Xbox 360 power supply light is orange or yellow.
Usually when the Xbox 360 power supply light is orange it's on standby so there is no problem with your Xbox 360 console but the power supply can't supply it with power !

First you have to try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supply from the console & unplugging the power cord from the wall outlet also unplug the Xbox 360 power supply from the power cord, wait for a minute then reconnect it all back , also try it on another wall outlet without any extension cords at all.
If it's still doing the same it will be definitely a fault with the Xbox 360 power supply.
So, in this case please contact Xbox 360 customer support to fulfill the Xbox 360 power supply.

Xbox 360 power supply light is red.
There is something wrong with the Xbox 360 power supply connection so try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supply from the console & unplugging the power cord from the wall outlet also unplug the Xbox 360 power supply from the power cord, wait for minute then reconnect it all back , also try it on another wall outlet without any extension cord at all.

If it's still red that would be for sure a fault with the Xbox 360 power supply .
So, then contact Xbox 360 customer support to fulfill your Xbox 360 power supply .

You can also find replacement power cords many places online. See if you can get your hands on another cord and try that to see if its the current power cord.
Hope this helps you out! Please don't forget to rate :)

Lightening struck my Xbox original

Replacing the power supply inside the xbox has always worked for me. If you want a cheap power supply buy one of ebay. Make sure you buy the right model. There are three different types. 1.0-1.1, 1.2 - 1.5 & 1.6 power supply. To tell which one you have look at the wire where it plugs into the motherboard. If it's a single row of pins, then you need the 1.0-1.1 power supply. If it's a double row and has an orange wire anywhere on it then you need the 1.2 - 1.5 board. No orange and you need the 1.6 board. You can also find a picture here: http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Mods/xbox_power_supply_conversion.htm
on how to distinquish the three apart. You can also fork out the extra $10 bucks or so by buying a universal power supply board. Replace the board and I'll guarantee you that you will get some more play time out of the system.
