Question about Samsung SGH-D900 Cellular Phone

Water damage My mobile phone has sustained water damage and I would like to fix it. What happens to a phone when it is water damaged and what exactly is it that fails. I've read up on it a bit a found that the varistors tend to fail in order to protect the main components. Is this always the fault caused by water damage ? If not water other faults may occur, and how best is it to fault find it ?

Odds are you are wasting your time. Most of the time when phones get wet they either have power on or the person turns it on when they wrongly believe it to be dry inside and short more than one circuit. The components are so small that unless you have access to a mico solderer and the diagnostic software for that phone I would not bother. When phones with water damaged are sent in to refurb/insurance centers they are usually scrapped. Its just not cost effective. If you decide to try good luck, but don't get your hopes to high or spend a great deal of time on it.

How can repair a wet mobile cell?

Samsung Galaxy Smartphone: Water damaged phone: How fix:

Hello.. the procedure:

Electricity and water do not mix. If continue to use water short circuits chips inside making your phone's motherboard burn out = phone as a paperweight

1. Do not try to use your phone. Power it off. Immediately, if able to: remove the battery back door and take out the battery.

If you turned the phone on after getting wet, you probably shorted something out.. If you never turned it off and kept using it thinking it is fine.. but time passes and the phone continues to act up.. you are probably killing your phone as the water continues to damage the motherboard. Once you turn off the phone, consider the phone dead, because trying to turn it back on with spark energy to the motherboard frying it in the process. (I've seen that happen several times)

(if for example, you have a s6 family/note 5 whereas the phone where the battery does not come out without breaking the glue seal to take it out, leave it in. just power off the device.)

2. dry it off with a towel, shake out any loose water droplets inside the phone

3. use a hair dryer on low setting to try to dry out the phone... no hair dryer? set your phone out in the sun, but don't bake it.. (what you are trying to do dry up any water that might be inside)

4. get a empty container that's bigger/taller than your phone by at least 1/2 inch on either side, fill it with rice and submerge your battery-less and battery backdoor-less phone for 24-72 hours.

(the rice will dry out your phone. this takes time. water is usually trapped underneath the chips on the motherboard where you would not be able to get to dry off unless you un-solder the chips)

5. If you phone doesn't turn on after that.. it means that the water has either fried the chips on your phone and/or corrosion from water that is undried in the phone has effectively made it useless. You can't send it back to Samsung to fix, because it is your fault. Water damaged phones will cost anywhere up to $300 to fix. Consider all data on the phone lost. Time to buy a new phone.

If the phone turns on but something doesn't work, it means you shorted that part of the phone out.. Don't bother sending it to Samsung to fix because it was your fault. Take it to your local cell phone repair shop to fix. Ask them for a quote or at least get a diagnostic inspection to see what might be fixable. Explain it was water damaged upfront. Assess the damage costs to decide if you want to repair it or not

If the screen is black and you get a constant flashing red light that won't stop.. that indicates to service technician that your device is water damaged. Don't try to trick servicing shops about fault, there are water indicators in your phone that tells them it was your fault. Best to man up and tell the truth before you waste your time and money.

Mobility scooters are designed to be caught in the rain without damage.
If it turns out yours has sustained water damage I suggest a very strong complaint to both the supplying dealer and the manufacturer.

There is a limit to what the unskilled user is able to test and I suggest first reading the user manual for hints and tips and the location of any fuses or safety breakers.

I have a virgin mobile Awe zte. Water got spilled on it and now my power button won't work and it only charge up to 35 percent. What can I do to fix this situation? I've tried rice

Hi Keandra,

Unfortunately rice rarely works. Its not the water that damages phones its the minerals in the water that corrodes components and shorts connections once the waters gone.

as a last chance you can try a specialist repair kit that will remove them,

I droped my cell phone in water. It dryed and it turns on and says t-moble,andriod and then it is still on but nothing just blank.

If you this just happened try putting your cell phone in uncooked rice. This will absorb the water quickly and may manage to save your phone before the water does permanent damage. Leave the phone in the rice overnight and see how it is doing the next day. If your phone was submerged in water a while ago the damage to your phone may be permanent.

My samsung galaxy s has sustained water damage and was wondering how i could go about fixing it ?

Hi,

As the mobile is wet the circuit board inside the mobile will be fully wet. Due to this the connections between the circuits get connected (short circuited) and the mobile may behave in such a manner that it should not behave. NEVER put the wet mobile in charger even though it is dry and working properly. There may be water logs present in the mobile circuit which may be dangerous to the person who is using the mobile. It may lead to electric shock.

Take the mobile to the authorized dealer of your make and they will remove the water log from the mobile circuit board and it will be fine .I recommend you not to do this by yourself.

Thank You

NOKIA 6300 FELL IN WATER AND DEAD.CAN IT BE REPAIRED?

Hello,

What to do is this,

Unscrew the phone,
Get a Methylated spirit and a brush,
Bring out the board of the phone and use the methylated spirit to brush off remaining water on phone.
Keep under heat to dry off,
After board is dried, fix it back and screw back phone.

Am sure after doing this phone will work well.
But if phone still doesn't work ,that means water has damage some component inside the phone.
You will need to consult a phone technician for assistance.
Take care.

May be the phone was water damaged. This kind of problems normally we see in water damaged phones. If not water damaged then PA (Power Amplifier) may be shorted and need to be changed.
