Computer stopped communicating with the monitor & keyboard

My Acer Aspire M1641 was working fine this morning, but now won't send a signal to the monitor or keyboard. Monitor powers up & displays a message that it is functioning, but needs cords checked. Tried my other working monitor on it, but it just stays black with power on. Any ideas? Thanks!

I opened it up and made sure nothing was loose, but it all looked OK. Also tried replacing the keyboard, but the other one also does not seem to get any power from the computer (no lights on). Can't test if the mouse has power because I can't see the screen. Someone mentioned to me that I may have accidentally hit some combination of keystrokes that instructed the computer to look for a different monitor, rendering the connected one useless. Does anyone know anything about that possibility? Thanks!

Not yet, but I did try 2 other working monitors on the computer, with the same result, so I'm guessing it's the computer.

have you tried the monitor on another pc? to confirm that the monitor works?

make sure the video card is seated properly, there have been occasions where the card will creep out of the slot ( because of the hot/cold, expansion and contraction going on in the tower)

The computer is dead. No way to know what the problem is without more information, the kind that you get by opening it up and testing things.

I agree, if you did a combo of keystrokes (re: cntrl+F5 for monitor) thats only a shortcut keystroke and should be able to do and undo all changes in "control panel">"display">"settings">advanced

System appears to come up, but the monitor is like

Check the connector on the computer first, If that seems steady and solid, you need a repair shop --- it is almost impossible to troubleshoot a computer w/o a monitor. You can't even install a new video card if you can't see to install the software. It could be anything from a loose connection to a fried motherboard. The shop is equipped to deal with that problem. I wish there was a better answer.

How do I disable onboard video for Acer M1641? There seems to be no option to do so in the bios and I cannot get a display on the new video card. Computer does post normal.

You say the computer posts normal--is the video card being recognized within Device Manager? Try installing by adding a new device, then everything should be fine. Also make sure that your monitor is plugged into the card :) . Try different connections to monitor if available.

see if one of the little wires inside the wire end from the monitor that goes into the tower is bent or messed up. If one of those are missing, the whole monitor is messed up. Also look on the back of the tower for the |O| picture. It should be blue.

My acer switchs on but the moniter has stopped working it clicks back to standby and says no input signal

That is because no signal is sent from your computer to the monitor, I suspect your computer is not booting up. Does you computer sound a beep on boot-up? or no sound at all? Have you system unit checked on the nearest support center, or you can troubleshoot it if you want, just send here the details of your troubleshooting and we will be happy to guide you with that.

Acer desktop mouse, keyboard not functioning, monitor also not wor

If there is no display on the monitor, then your computer is not sending a video signal to the monitor.
This could be caused by a bad video card or some other hardware problem. I would open the case and disconnect all the devices (hard drive, CD, etc. Leave only the CPU, memory, and video connected. You could leave the keyboard and mouse connected too.
If your computer then starts, you can start to add devices (after turning the computer off) one at a time.
If this doesn't work, then you are looking at replacing the motherboard or just the video card if that is possible.
