Unknown Password for Bios, Cmos, and HDD on Toshiba X205-SLi1

I have someone screwing with my laptop. I now have passwords on the above and every time I wipe my HHD and reload the original software, in a short time I am having computer operation problems and software being on my computer I did not put on it. Toshiba tells me I have to take it to a aurthorized repair dealer. Is the a solution to my problems, or do I have to send it in to the company?

Hello, I am not really computer knowledgeable. I did not realize the meaning of those items. Thank you for the input. I run windows vista 32bit on the computer. If I do not try to get into the bios, which is F2, then it boots up. If I hit F2 then it automatically asks for a password. I get three guesses and then the computer shuts down. I can restart it again after that. I am getting programs from screen savers, to messages that say they are from the FBI out of Egypt, to constantly getting calls and emails saying I havvvvve won a big prize and all I had to do is cover the transact fees and they will send me the money. Also my computer gets vet slow, when I run my protection programs I always get some to remove. A lot of the time it is the same ones. I have changed my passwords. Someone got to my credit cards so I had them reissued, but I am still arguing with the companies. Some entity has got into my eBay account and bought items, thank goodness eBay has helped. That same person was trying to break my bank and paypal passwords. It has been a nightmare. Can something be in the bios that is letting them get onto my computer??? I was told to see, and that is how I found out I had a password unknown by me.

Bios and Cmos are the same thing, HDD is the hard drive, if you are able to use and wipe the hdd then you don't need to worry about the hdd password as its not relevant. Bios/cmos password on the other hand blocks you from either starting the computer or entering the bios/cmos setup.

The bios password can be bypassed/reset if you are able to start the computer from a cd or diskette/usb stick. But if you reset the bios, the hdd password will be gone and that point you will need to send it to toshiba dealer for unlocking.

Are you able to enter the bios right when you start up the computer? the computer says at somepart of the screen what button to press to enter bios. are you able to open it? what happens does a password prompt come up?

Can you also tell me what kind of software is getting into the computer?

Your computer is obviously infected with harmfull software. No its not in the bios.

Since you have already had so many issues with the computer I'd like to look into it myself right now, are you on it now and is it connected to internet?

If you get prompted for the HDD password when turning on the computer, and you do not know it you will need to call Toshiba support. Circumventing an HDD password is not an easy task.
Also there where Toshiba laptops, model 6100, that when the user was suddenly prompted for the HDD password Toshiba replaced the HDD under warranty.

I was trying to install windows 7 on my laptop and it wouldnt load and gave a message about going into the bios. So I did and when I changed something not sure what it was, and now when I turn it on it...

The CMOS battery is a rechargeable Lithium button cell and is best left well alone.
Underneath, near the RAM, is a jumper land, (ident 500). Short the lands together for about 15 seconds and boot up your laptop. BE VERY CAREFULL as irrepairable damge will be done very easily!
When the laptop boots, go into the BIOS menu, and find the "Restore Default Setting". Click F10 to exit and save.
That will return your laptop to a useable state again.
Hope that helps.

Hi i am an indian.sir my laptop toshiba model:satellite A130/A135 Series is asking for bios password.ples help me.

Hi.

If you dont remember the BIOS password, you may remove it by resetting the BIOS password.

Please follow the below steps to reset the BIOS password:

1) Please remove the bottom casing of the Notebook.
2) Once you have removed the below casing, you should be able to see a CMOS Battery.
3) The CMOS Battery will be of a size of a coin.
4) Once you have found the CMOS Battery, please remove and re-insert it again.
5) The CMOS Battery will have the information about the Computer Date, time, BIOS Password etc.,
6) Removing and re-inserting the CMOS Battery will reset these settings, which will also remove the BIOS password.

Please perform the above steps and let me know the results.

Hope this helps.

Please feel free to contact for further information and assistance.

Hdd password pops up and hasn't been setup to ask for it. After trying several words it pops up Hdd error {06801]

Hi,
Thank you for contacting Fixya. This is Anil.
I understand that whenever you turn ON the computer it pops for HDD password.

It appears that someone has set an HDD password on your computer. Inorder to reset it please follow the steps mentioned below:
If you have forgot BIOS/HDD password then you have to reset CMOS jumper setting. Please follow the below steps: Open the Laptop back panel. Locate the CMOS battrey, remove it & then with the help of a screw driver keep on pressing the terminal inside it and turn ON the computer for 10 secs and Turn Off (make sure you keep on pressing the terminal with a screwdriver while turning ON). It will short the BIOS setting. Now, fix the CMOS battrey & restart the computer. This will take care of the issue.

I believe the above resolution should resolve the issue, however, if the issue still persists, please contact us. We will be glad to help you.
Thank you. Have Great Day.

Regards,
Anil.B.R

If you haven't any mistakes with the connection, you're going to do a deep research. Your only solution will be from the Bios Settings. This issue is very common for Laptop users; it'll take time but I'll try my best to assist you step by step. I will also suggest you to make print out if you're gonna do it on the same computer you are using right now. Please be patient while I am preparing the tips for you so that you can understand better. Thanks.

Toshiba x205 Sli1 suddenly died. Got 3 beeps.

3 beeps usually means that either the chipset or the processor is dead. Nothing you can do, take it to a repair shop.

My toshiba equium just wont except the main password, cant reboot..cant get into bios

At this time you need to cleat the BIOS password first so that you can get into BIOS. To cleat the BIOS password you need to open your laptop you just remove the battery first. Remove the screw and open the back cover. Locate the CMOS battery, all password are stored in CMOS memory.

Remove the CMOS battery to clear the stored BIOS password, Or you can remove also the CMOS jamper near the CMOS battery and turn on the unit with in 10 second and turn off. Reinsert the jamper. Now the BIOS password are already clear you can get now in BIOS to change some settings. Good luck
