Pioneer deh p980bt faceplate problem

I have a pioneer deh p980bt and my problem is that when I put the faceplate on to the stereo it doesn't work. But the blue light, that tell you that you are connected to a bluetooth device, blinks like three times and nothing happens. I was wondering what that means?

I bought the unit back in October 2006. So, yes my warrenty is up. I also disconnected the unit and waited awhile and still the light blinks. Before this happen, the faceplate display screen would flicker and the screen would go dim. This happen a couple of times, but would work fine after awhile. Could the faceplate or the faceplate contacts be defective?

Hi,
it's the tiny ribbon cable that just cracked and failed .it can be repaired but it's a pain in the *** .if you look closely at the bottom of the face (with it flipped close of course), you can see the ribbon that connects the face electronically to the inside of the stereo. I happened to notice it only after i removed my stereo. Basically the ribbon bending back and forth (the face plate rotating open and closed)constantly caused it to crack on either side of it eventually breaking the connections one at a time. You'll need a replacement cable and do some soldering .That's why i mean it's a pain to fix .Either check Ebay for a replacement faceplate or change radio alltogether .

The light is blinking to indicate a fault has occurred in the unit, either the face plate contacts are defective or the head unit is bad, but to get it repaired costs almost as much as a new one, so u make the call send it out for repair or replace. I would only make one suggestion disconnect the unit and let it stand for few minutes, then plug it back in, this may be a boot error.

Normally it is the button on the top left or bottm right of faceplate. it will spring the faceplate out at an angle, then you just pull off.

Setting the clock

1. Press SOURCE and hold until the unit turns off.
2. Use the MULTI-CONTROL to select clock.
3. Push MULTI-CONTROL left or right to select the segment of the clock display you wish to set. As you select a segment of the clock display the segment selected will start blinking. If you select the hours, the hours will blink, select the minutes and the minutes will blink and so on.
4.Push MULTI-CONTROL up or down to set the clock.
