Question about Toshiba Satellite M35X-S111 Notebook
This seems to be a common problem but I do not see a common answer. However, when I turn my laptop on the power button will light up and the LED's on the front will come on, but there is nothing on the screen (remains dark)..plus the fan comes on but in 5 seconds or less the fan stops, the unit stops "booting" at that point and the leds's and blue power button remain on. Occasionally (maybe 1 out of 100 times) it will power up but it seems that the few times it did come on I moved it and it went of...but one of the times it was on I shook it a bit to try and determine if a loose wire was the cause and I figured it would cut off when I moved it but it did not????????? I am strapped here...out of warranty, no close service experts, nothing...any help would be A-1. thanks in advance-rick
Several model Toshibas had this problem includint M35X and M75X. There is a small power chip under the top cover bezel(above keyboard) that overheats and comes off the MB. Some say heating it will reseat the IC but others replace the board. It is a design flaw that is why Toshiba extended the warranty. Good Luck!
