Static from a wireless (plugs into the wall)intercom

Why am I suddenly getting this extreme amount of static when I press down the talk button? It is obviously getting the signal and the line of communication is open; but you can't hardly hear the other person speaking because of the static. It only does it with one of the units.

This problem is not for a cell phone....it's a wireless intercom. One is out in our detached garage and one in the kitchen. It's worked for about 15 years. We took it apart to see if anything was loose in the wiring; but did not spray it with contact cleaner. We're going to try that today. Thanks

There are a few possibilities that could be the cause. The fact that its only one unit malfunctioning most likely means it is some type of fault in the unit it self and not the connection. Have you swapped it with another unit to make sure its the unit itself? If so try these. The first and most simple is the easiest to fix. It may sound odd but dirt and other contaminants can cause a great deal of interference "static" when they get worked into the metal connectors that carry signals. If that is the case, I recommend that you unplug the device and use "electronics" contact cleaner on all the connectors and if possible the metal contacts themselves. If it is not a containment then it could be a loose connector blown speaker/mic or even a solder joint inside the device. If that is the case you may have to have it repaired.
Hope this helps.

Intercom does not work

There needs to be an additional instruction. I am having the same problem. From standby mode, I press Intercom, the screen says "Please wait" for 2-3 seconds, then I choose a handset. Nothing happens. The user guide doesn't have any additional instructions after this point. I don't hear any paging or anything other than silence on any handset.

SYSTEM RESET To recover from some fault conditions (refer to the Troubleshooting Section) you may need to perform a system reset. To perform the system reset follow this procedure: 1. Press both the talk button (14) and the mute control (15) button on the headset for 5 seconds. 2. When the talk indicator light (17) on the headset blinks, release both buttons. 3. Press the talk button again. 4. Next reset the base unit by disconnecting the AC power adapter (24) from the AC power adapter jack (7) for 5 seconds, then reconnect. My intercom button flashed red to green. When I push a line button, I get a two-tone beep but no dial tone. I changed the internal 9 v battery. I unplugged the phone and waited, then plugged it back in....

Each telephone must be connected to line 1 and line 2 for
proper operation. The remaining lines 3 and 4 may — or may not —
be connected to each station as you desire. First plug in the battery, then the phone lines (1 & 2 are mandatory), and third the power cord. If your intercome LED is blinking red and green, then press: STORE IN, followed by "INTERCOM" followed by a free intercom# (i.e., any of the memory buttons 1 through 16 not already assigned to another telephone set). Then wait for the phone to go through its initiation sequence during which it searches each of the four possible lines. After that concludes, you should get dial tone on your active lines. :-) Marco
