Question about Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera

1 Answer

EOS 400D Good day, I bought a Canon EOS 400D Xmas last year and a Canon colour printer to match. I used my Camera some weeks ago and after removing the card I entered it into my printer must have been able to fit it in wrong way because it damaged the pins in the printer not knowing why it was not reading my I removed the card re entered it into the camera and try to connect via the cable but the card was damaged and now damaged the pins in the camera. So I took my printer to be repaired and was told this should not happen and it was repaired under warranty. next send of my camera and was told that it was my fault and I was charged to repair the unit. I dont understand that the printer caused the damage to the card which damaged my camera and it was fixed under warranty but not the camera. With a wider grove in one side of the card one would think you should not be able to fit the card in any other way. And if you can and this brakes or bends any pins one would think it was a design fault. What is your thought on this. Cheers from Perth Australia

Re: EOS 400D

Putting it in correctly is your responsibility.
however, the policy seems to change with the product.
the precedence set by the printer group was probably wrong.
they have no real obligation to make good on your mistake.
however, try to negotiate a more favorable deal than 100% of the cost by you.
good luck

Lost solution disk and directional manual disk need downloads

You don't need any special software to use your camera.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picsaa.

Windows XP wont dowload ALL images from my Canon EOS 400D

Your canon must be making multiple folders on the card and the computer is only reading the first one. Use a card reader to download your pictures.

Canon 400d new batteries installed but will still not turn on.

Might seem obvious but check that the green light on the charging unit showed that the battery was fully charged before you put it in the camera. Make sure that the memory card is fully seated in the slot. If ok then either the charger is not charging or the on/off switch is faulty.

I have an EOS Canon 400D digital SLR and my husband has bought me a Sony photo printer DDP-FP75 . I had wanted to be able to insert the memory card but it doesn't seem compatible. Can I print using the...

The two are not immediately compatible. The Canon EOS 400D uses a Compact Flash card. The Sony Photo Printer you have accepts SD and Memory Stick cards. Unfortunately, the CF card and SD card are very different.

The easiest solution I can think of would be for you to get an inexpensive card reader (make sure it accepts Compact Flash cards), attach it to your PC and then use it to read the CF card from your Canon EOS -- and print to your Sony printer.

I hope this helps. If it does, please rate the solution offered. My goal is always FixYa or Helpful, never TFT or IA. Regards,

Camera won't turn on

Try replacing the date/time battery located in the main battery compartment. Also, simultaneously remove the lens. This will be like a master reboot for the camera. Replace the date/time coin battery, the main battery (freshly charged) and lastly the lens.

If this doesn't work, send it in for service. If you are just slightly beyond your one year warranty, Canon may allow a grace period especially if you can provide a receipt. If you can't find a receipt, give them the approximate date of purchase when you send in the camera. You will need to call them or set up service online.

Hope this helps!

When it comes to DSLR, Canon scores better than Panasonic. Have a look at for pic samples from both the cameras.
I own a 350D for the last 2+ years. I havent come across any maintenance costs. However, the urge to upgrade is always there :)
