Question about Gaggia Carezza Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Gaggia Carezza will not turn on

I have had the Gaggia Carezza for 16 months and today when I turned it on- no lights. I read on here about changing the plug and did this- put new plug but no help. I looked inside the machine and see no loose or burned out wires. Any other suggestion?

'on' switch on Gaggia Carezza not working

Usually it is the switch itself that has failed. Order the switch from your appliance repair/supply business and replace the item in the machine. A lot of these switches have plastic 'ears' that need to be pressed in to release the old part and the wire connections are usually 'push-on'. Some that are held on by a formed metal clip usually require breakage of the clip to release the part and the new switch should have a replacement clip. Hope this helps!

I have a Gaggia Carezza machine that is about 3 years old. Yesterday, the power switch seemed to have some resistance when I turned it off. I also smelled a burning plastic smell. Today, the switch seemed...

The description sounds like the switch has failed due to it's internal contacts arcing. I have a like problem with Mary214 that is ongoing. Please follow that thread to find your fix.

Cannot find replacement for the Gaggia Carezza powerswitch anywhere. Model discontinued. Want to jump the wires so that it is on when I plug it in.

Here is a list of gaggia dealers, one of them might have it, if not check with radioshak.

Gaggia Carezza Espresso Machine burned out

as i understand from your decriptition, you had temperatire rising in extreme point. termofuse should worked but it didnt, i advice you to change all 3 and some seals:
  1. Thermofuse
  2. Thermostat water L=107C
  3. Thermostat steam L=145C
  4. Gaggia gasket 6-pc. Kit (during changing them you can clean boiler too)

Plastic "Turbo Frother steam nozzle" blows off metal steam pipe

Pull off entire plastic wand off by unscrewing the top plastic piece. Inside the piece that connects to the screw top you should see two o-ring type spacers. The top one should be hard pastic and the one beneath should be rubber. Take the entire unit apart and clean, making sure to put all pieces back in the way they came out.

To put back on, take the top piece and put it back on the metal stem first then put the rest of the wand back on and gently push it as far up the metal stem as possible and screw back together. If you don't have the rubber spacer this could be the problem since the wand really has nothing grabbing onto the metal stem except for the rubber spacer. If this doesn't work, order another wand:

Gaggia Carezza not turning on

I just bought a broken Carezza for my office (and hacking)-- the owner said the power switch only worked when he held it down hard.

Taking it apart, the main power switch-- a DPDT automotive-style unit-- is broken on one pole-- the wire connectors are slightly melted and darkened, and the switch has melted, discolored plastic around the metal tabs.

A new switch should bring it back to life, and I'll install a removable power cord and 15A fuse for niceness/safety-- the switch is rated for 20A at 125VAC so shouldn't have fried.
