Set just seems to make a popping noise and won't show picture.

  • Anonymous Feb 12, 2008

No picture, no sound; popping noise in the speakers that appears to have a set frequency of about 1 cycle per second, going from left to right and back, continuous. No physical evidence of failed component - no heat damage.

I bought an Akia 30+ inch Model# LCT2701TD a few years ago and no problems. Last night, it would not turn on. The little light below the screen that changes color when you turn it on is now blinking constantly (never has done this) there a quick fix or do I need to take to a repair shop? Thx

Tv stop playing after thirty minutes and the picture get fussy and its make a loud popping noise. please help.

About the only simple thing you can try is disconnect set and a box if used from power for several minutes and then power all back up to see if when the units reboot the problem is there or not.

The usual repair cost on a 19 inch set will exceed the replacement cost of that set in most cases.

Popping noise and now won't power up. Red and green indicator lights blink on front of tv.

start by checking the power supply in the set and if not able to do that consider taking it to a shop for an estimate.

JVC HD56G647 TV was working fine. Made a popping noise and now we have no picture or sound. Both lights on the front are flashing in unison. Help!

The popping noise is not a good sign. You definitely have a shorted horizontal IC and probably a bad flyback transformer. You will find several bad capacitors that contributed to this problem. The cost of repair will be more than your depreciated TV is worth. Sorry..look for a new one. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

My tv shows no picture, and a popping noise

I had one of these. It was a bad flyback transformer and bad retrace cap was cooked! Chances are real good you have the same problem. You will definitly need to see a TV tech! This model is very complicated to repair. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

RCA HD50LPW164 turned on TV made a pop

the loud pop you heard was probably a capacitor blowing its top. The grinding noise is likely high voltage arching that was occuring due to rising voltage since capacitor isn't there to smooth it out.

Loud popping noise

The 23" CRT set may have a high voltage breakdown in the flyback transformer or focus divider. Take the back off and operate the set in a dark room. Look for anything that has a blue glow around it or sparks flying when the pop occurs. I won't guarantee this will find your problem, but it is definitive if you see these!

I once had a set with these symptoms. I stopped the blue glow and arcing by covering the focus divider with epoxy. It worked for a couple of months before the divider literally broke apart.

RCA Guideplus Gold Television

I would guess the popping/cracking goes away when the picture is present. Sounds like a high voltage arc either withing the tube or due to a cracked component in the high voltage circuit. If it's the tube, then the question is: how old is the set and is it worth it to sink $$$ into it as opposed to putting the same into another unit. If it is a defective component, that's much easier/cheaper to repair. Again, age of the set, etc. I hope this helps; definitly a repair for a pro.
