Check your old HDD to see if there is an adapter that comes off the connection point that needs to be placed on the new drive. A lot of DELL laptops have this and it needs to be placed on the new drive or it will not be recognized.

How do I remove the hard drive in Toshiba SatellitePro A10 EN? (Removing the plastic cover exposes only the end of the hard drive. I'm reluctant to just start pulling on it!

  • The original Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 HDD is fitted into a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 Hard Disk Drive cradle - Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 HDD caddy.

      • Gently remove the cradle from the laptop, yes pull on it
      • Unscrew the original Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 Hard Disk Drive & remove it from the cradle.
      • Screw the new Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 Hard Disk Drive into the cradle & refit the cradle into the laptop.
      • Re-install XP or Vista

Hi my Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 ST380011A 80 GB has crashed..and i want to recover photos in it, do you have any solution ?

the easiest way it to buy a usb external hard drive caddy, you then will be able just plug in to a usb port once you have installed the drive to the caddy which isn't hard to do.

This external drive isn't recognized by any of my computers. HELP

If it is not showing up on any computers there's most likely a hardware problem in the drive or AC adapter. Do the lights come on when you plug the power in? If not you need a new adapter, if they do the failure is either in the drive caddy circuitry or in the drive circuitry. You can take it to your local PC shop and have the techs test the HDD in a new caddy, if it works in the new caddy your done, if it doesn't you may need the help of a pro to recover your files off of the drive. Hope this helps FixYa, if you need additional assistance or a referal to a pro comment back here with questions or your country and city. Chris

Hi, i buy used laptop L355D-S7815 without hard disk i put a new 1 work fine but i don`t know if must have a caddy or something else because feel like is loose please help. thanks.

Some laptops need a caddy, but if the hard drive can fit in without a caddy then don't worry about it. If the drive is a bit loose then wrap or add some paper around the hard drive to stop it moving about.

Acer Aspire 5100 - what do I need to adapt hard disk to fit this laptop?

That is a very interesting problem. I couldn't find anything on a hard drive connector. The only thing I found is on Ebay and they call it a hard drive cage. They are very specific as to it not being the caddy. There's no pic, but here's the link, maybe you can contact him to send a pic. It could be what you need???

          Hard drive

If you can find another working 6L300RO, you can try swapping the logic board from the working drive onto the dead one. Try this if all you want is to recover the data from the dead drive.

          Hard drive

It is possible, maybe. I've done similar and only blew a surface mounted diode on the drive's circuit board. I located a blown drive and took that diode from it, soldered it to the one I blew and it worked.

So yes, if you can do similar to what I've described above.
I have to tell you though, that's a longshot.
