Check the flap that lets out the ice in the door (assuming you have one). Chances are it is broke or just not shutting all the way.

Why is there frost and ice in my freezer

If this is a frost free unit they actually have an internal heater. If you block the outlet for the cooling air in the freezer the heater cannot sense the dew point temp so it will not activate. Ice accumulates at the dew point temperature. Make sure the outlet isn't blocked. My wife blocks it all the time despite my many warnings not to. It's easier for me to rearrange things than keep repeating myself.

Freezer & fridge have stopped working. The fan was running but the temp on the fridge was 93 and climbing.

If there is no cooling at all , before we go further we must confirm the first step of confirming the compressor and gas pressure. So shut off the fridge and leave it off while you clean and check the evaporator for frost. If frost is seen it is a good indication as the compressor is working with sufficient gas within.
Now after about 6 hours plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours.
Earlier make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode for freezer and fridge. If there is no ice formation we have a big issue as the compressor and gas must be checked out. If compressor is running check the pressure, get help to test gas pressure. If not you will need to fill up ,If gas pressure is good the possibility of the compressor being inefficient is high. In such a case you must take consensus to estimate and decide, if RPM of motor is low check capacitor.
However if Ice forms then observe the fridge for about 24 hours for cooling to continue and the fridge to cut off. If not the auto defrost timer, or the thermostat must be checked.

The ventilation fan that circulates the COLD air from the evaporator coils could get clogged with frost and so could be jammed. Also the wires to the fan can be worn out due to the frost. If so check if the defrost timer works to switch the heater to remove the frost. Also the check if the compressor is shut down by the timer /thermostat . If the heaters are not working, check continuity of the heaters.
So attempt to test using a multi-meter / clamp tester from the outside and make your observations so that we come to the solution.

I have a Kenmore Model 60192000, freezer on top and no ice maker. Have a leak on left side over top shelf. It is coming from apart in the refrigerator above the shelf, has kind of a square neck. I do I...

Is it a leak or a drip? A leak means you have continuous running water and a drip is more inconsistant.

I would suspect that you have a drip, that is caused by your cooling tube having frost or ice buildup in it, which is quite common for some units. The fix that seems to work the best is to defrost your unit, making sure the cooling tube is completely free of ice and frost by blowing hot air from a hair dryer down it. Then cutting a piece of bare electrical (solid core) wire that will fit down the tube but not extend past the opening. Then you form a hook and put it around your defrost heater.

That way the heat from the defrost heater will be transferred down the wire and keep the tube free of ice and frost.

Excessive frost buildup in bottom freezer section of Kenmore refr

There are several reasons this can be happening...

1. The seal on the door may have a tear or may not be seating properly...this allows excess warm air into the freezer compartment and in its effort to remove the same ...frost appears.

2. There is something call a thermistor that is cycled on and off as needed to remove excess frost accumulation and or ice buildup on the evaporator (freezer) coils...it is a heat strip which actually defrost the frost/ice. if this is not working frost will accumulate and eventually it will become Ice......now the remarkable thing about Ice accumulation is that you would think everything would remain cold or get colder ..however in this case the opposite occurs...it insulates the coils and thereby increasing the temperature...put a thermometer...one that is calibrated properly...(calibration can be set by placing a thermometer into a glass of ice water...the temp of a glass of ice water..after a few minutes setting will be exactly 32 degrees)..if the temperature of your refrigerator is gradually rising over the period of a week...you will need to call a tech or replace the thermistor and or trouble shoot other problems that can occur such as..

3. The evaporator fan may be going out although they usually make a high pitched whining noise of a whirring noise before they go out...not always and if they are intermittently cycling off then frost would build up...do you always here a fan running when you open the freezer...if so that is good...fan is working...but it may be cycling off at times when no one is aware.
P.S. the odds of your ice maker causing this are very, very slim...in 35 years in the industry ..I have never had an ice maker cause frost due to water spray...it will almost always result solid sheets of Ice..if it evers does cause a spray....which like I said is rare...lottery ticket type rare :-)

This should lead you in the right direction...if you need help in finding a reputable service company in your area let us know..I hope this has been helpful..if so PLEASE rate me....thank you... .......The Fang

Ice maker stopped making ice

hi there,

sounds like the i/m is making ice. if you have ice in the bucket, it means that the only problem is the dispensor. if you have frost anywhere, the problem is with the actuator, which is the ice pladdle. you may have a broken spring or just the ice paddle need to be replaced.

IF FREEZER IS A THE CORRECT TEMP/ O-10 DEGREES, THE FREEZER IS NOT THE PROBLEM. THERE IS A THERMOSTAT IN YOUR ICE MAKER, IT IS NOT ADJUSTABLE. IT IS A SMALL BI METAL SWITCH THAT TRIGERS ICE MAKER WHEN IT REACHES ITS PROPER TEMP. THE PROBLEM IS, IT IS TRIGERING IT AT TO LOW OF A TEMP.NOT ALLOWING THE ICE TO FREEZE SOLID. IF YOU CAN HANDLE IT CHANGE BIMETAL SWITCH OR CHANGE ICE MAKER ITSELF.

AFTER A DEFROST,HAVE A GOOD LOOK AT THE DOOR RUBBER. IT MUST BE 100% SEALED FOR A FREEZER. (SHOULD ALSO HEAR A SLIGHT VACUME WHEN DOOR IS SHUT WHEN UP NTO TEMP).ALSO MAKE SURE MOTOR IS SWITCHING OFF AT +/- 20C (TEMP).IF ALLOWED TO RUN CONTINUOUSLY TEMP WILL PULL DOWN TO CREATE EXCESS FROST.
