Take it apart and pull out one of the two batteries for a minute than put it back in. This will reset it fully. Rather than the dumb reset button. Worked for me. Hope it works for you as well.

If it's still new and you have the receipt, you can try to take it back to the store that you got it at for an exchange for a new one.

If not, then I need to ask have you completely cleaned the heads on it? Sometimes there is a buildup of hair and natural oils that will prevent the blades from working.

MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG YOUR RAZOR BEFORE DOING THIS!:
Try getting a dish of either VERY soapy warm almost hot water and submerging ONLY the clipping blades into it. Soak it for about 15 minutes and then use the fine brush that should have come with your razor and cleaning out the buildup. Once you've cleared out the buildup, you can turn it back on and run it just inside the soapy water to "shake" out the excess. NEVER use rubbing alcohol!

If that does not work, then I would think that you would have to actually take it apart to clean it out. But be extremely careful if you choose to do that. That would be a last resort before just buying a new one. Remember to always clean your shavers out after each use and ALWAYS use the oil they provide you fro keeping it conditioned to avoid problems like this.

Hope this helps!

How to fix a Braun series 7 razor that will not charge in cleaning stand

Try plugging the cord directly into the shaver. If it charges this way, your clean and charge unit is bad. A replacement can be ordered from the link below

Can anyone help with some advice for home razor repair?

After dropping the razor it is very difficult to know what the problem is without examining it. Based on the symptoms you describe, I would guess that the the 'drive unit' is damaged. You will find this part available at shaveroutlet.com. See link below. Scroll down the page for installation help video

Try removing the cord from the clean/charge base and plug the cord directly into the bottom of the shaver. If it charges directly from the cord, it is a safe assumption that the clean/charge base is not working correctly.
This unit is not repairable as the problem is, almost certainly, a faulty circuit board. You will need to purchase a replacement.
You will find a replacement clean/charge base for model 8585 at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

A small steel piece came out betwen the head and body of my 8000 series Braun razor - now the motor runs, but the blade doesn't move - can I fix this (I still have the part)?

The 'drive unit' appears to be broken. You will find this item for model 8985 at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

http://shaveroutlet.com/braun-8000-series-activator-motor-drive-unit-p-36.html

To replace, you will need to open the shaver body. You will first need to gently pry off the 'cap' on the bottom that surrounds the hole where the cord plugs in. Once removed the side grips will pull off revealing 4 screws. Remove screws to take off back cover and access insides. Inner parts simply lift out

The razor head comes loose from the two arms.

The one piece motor drive which also contains the shaver head in the Braun wear out. They can be replaced by yourself or a shaver tech. A good place for parts, http://shaveroutlet.com/.

To disassemble the 7000 Series Braun shaver.

Disassembly of the 7000 Braun shaver is basically the same as the 8000 series Braun shaver listed below. The 7000 is actually easier to disassemble as the plastic is much thicker and the bottom socket cover pops right off as there are less tabs and they are bigger.

To disassemble the 8000 Braun Series shaver.

Remove the plastic cover on the bottom that covers the corded socket. Be careful, there are a total of two tabs on the short sides and four very small tabs on the long sides. I usedmy fingernail to create a space big enough to insert the corner of a credit card in the center of the long side opposite the blue light indicator, then gently removed the cover. Using a screwdriver could damage the plastic.

The two sides then pop off, they only fit on their respective side when replacing. Don't lose the two small black seals on the top of each side piece.

There are a total of four screws holding the body together. Remove the screws, using the proper flat blade or torx screwdriver. The shaver will then split into. You can then remove the the Motor Drive Unit and the separate circuit board with the batteries.

This would also be a good time to clean the goo buildup from around the shaver head.

Assembly is the reverse of above. The Motor Unit will only fit in one way, there is a flat side and a angular side. Be sure the pin for the trimmer is placed in its proper hole, or it won't extend.

I had a similar problem where one of the side covers popped off. I was able to reattach it, by carefully aligning the spring and pushing back into place. If you've lost the pin, you're out of luck. Braun does not make these kinds of parts available for user servicing, unfortunately.

However, the 7000 series models are all compatible with each other in terms of motor, battery, and razor head armature. You could try locating a moderately used example on the cheap (maybe less than $20) and then cannibalize it for the parts you need.

Do NOT send it off to Braun for servicing, as you will be charged much more than the shaver is worth. If it comes to that, you're better off just going with an 8000 series shaver.
