Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Panasonic DMC-TZ1 operates in Playback mode only

Also works between modes displaying error that dial is not in proper position. I am able to access setup and verified that economy mode and powersave were not enabled.
While in any photo or movie-taking mode, screen is black, photos cannot be taken, and zoom inoperable. After switching back to playback, screen is black, but holding down shutter button for a couple of seconds brings LCD view back.
Zoom works in playback mode.
Battery is fully charged.
Camera was not submerged in water or exposed to sand.

Thanks for the info. One problem, though....where do I get the required screwdriver to remove the back side of the case?

Hi,

The position from the dial wheel is not corresponding with the electrical position. If you can do it by yourself you can adjust it and tighten the midscrew from the dialwheel

I have a Lumix DMC-LC50 When I turn it on it says: Mode dial is not in the proper position I tried everything

The mode dial is the knurled knob on the top of the camera - if you didn't already know. This same error message displayed when the knob is between selection. If you have moved the know to a valid position - where it stops in a detent, the message should clear from the display and be able to take pictures.

If moving the mode dial so that it rests in a detent and the message is still displayed, it indicates a problem with the switch inside the camera (that is operated when the mode dial is rotated). This is not a user serviceable part, and should be professionally repaired. I found United Camera to list a Mode Dial repair to be $42. there are plenty of others that can make this repair for you, too - this was simply the first I saw that had a price (I have never done business with nor am I affiliated with United Camera in any way).

I hope this is a good starting point for you & good luck. Please rate my reply - thanks.

When you turn it on the screen displays "mode dial in not in the proper position." Mode dial does not turn properly.

Something seems to be broken or off between the mode dial and the switch. It also may have broken internal parts.
I have had a camera with a similar problem. It was that the small switch inside was broken, and could not be repaired.
These mode switches can be changed, but will require a digital camera repairman to do such a job. It also could be sold for parts/repair on a site such as Ebay.

CAMERA UNIT IS PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-FX33 MENU

It may be that for the type of picture you are taking the mode - dial at the top of the camera is not compatible.

Try a couple of different modes by adjusting the dial to auto, etc.
