I recently purchased an 8 GB e280 and from past experience with MP3 players, I am attempting to format this device. For some reason it is showing me a capacity of only 15.8 MB and I am unable to completely reformat this device so that I can have 100% free space.

Re: trying to format
Are you formatting thru My Computer?
If so try using Computer Management. Right click on My Computer and select Manage. On this window select Disk Management on the left. On the right side at the top, your drive should be listed. Right click on the device and select format.
If your device does not show up, change the devices mode and try again. Device>Settings>Mode or USB Mode.
Best of Luck.

You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool.
- Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds) - Slide the hold switch into "hold" position. - Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer.
Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted.
You dragged & dropped files in recovery mode?
Recovery mode is only for re-installing the firmware or formatting the device if it is unresponsive.
If you are wanting to drag and drop files onto the device, the music needs to be put into the Music folder on the device.
If you do not see the Music folder, you will need to enable hidden files and folders on your PC.
Best of Luck.
p.s. - you can add to this question this doesnt work.
