Question about Mitsubishi WS-55807 TV

1 Answer

Distortion, blinking, dark screen - now nothing

Seven year old WS-55857 has been a great TV. Not one problem until now. The unit started to break up the video, created strange curved lines, go black for a minute or more, come back to normal, change color tint briefly, and after powering off/on, nothing but the little green power light. I don't think it's coming back. My thoughts are, primary power supply, horizontal drive, or possibly bad CRT tube. (It's never had one changed.)

Nope. Upon further testing, all voltages are present including HV. DF Yokes appear to have voltage, but there is no drive to the cathodes of the tubes. Appears to be cut-off at the signal board. I'm leaning towards the VBLANK transistor which enables the drive amplifiers. Would be helpful to have another signal board to exchange.

We can set the convergences great but after about 10 to 15 minutes ithe reds lines start moving a little again will not stay in position. It's a widescreen Mitsubishi rear projection tv ws-55857.

The problem - you're setting the convergence settings, but you're not saving them, you're
simply exiting the menu screen. Be sure to save your convergence setting for each
of the three colors. It sounds like you're setting RED last, and not saving its convergence setting,
whereas the GREEN & BLUE are holding their convergence settings, since you're saving them
correctly before proceeding on to RED....

Hey I was watching my tv model number ws-55857 and my screen turned an odd blue color yet I would still be able to hear, I turned the unit off and back on and had the same issue after a few more tries it...

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Mitsubishi WS-55857 turn on/auto turn off problem

After it shuts off, you need to get a code from the tv by pressing the menu and device buttons together for 5 sec. A code will flash at you made up of 2 digits. Example. 2 flashes a pause and 2 flashes points to a convergence failure. If this is not your code post yours and I will help you.
