Question about Canon imageRUNNER 5000 Copier
Canon imageRUNNER 5070 with USB port. Is USB port active by default, or does it require software/hardware modification? When connected to a PC through the USB port no device is detected.
IN DEPTH PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
My office has a Canon imageRUNNER 5070 copier, and we want to be able to print and/or scan via the USB port on the copier (located below the RJ45 port).
Currently we CAN print/scan via our network, but we would like to be able to do so locally, if possible.
When a computer is connected to the Canon imageRUNNER 5070's USB port, the computer does NOT see any device at all, so I am wondering if the port is even activated.
The port should be active. You can look for problems by right-clicking My Computer and then Properties. Under the Hardware tab, press the Device Manager button. Any hardware issues will show either a question mark or exclamation mark, disabled items with a red x. After the printer is connected, turn it on, then go to Start -> Control Panel. Here, go to add hardware. See if this finds it.
If not, have you added the printer after connecting it via USB under Start -> Printers and Faxes? What about inserting the installation CD before connecting the printer?
