Question about HP DeskJet 920c InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Paper jam After a paper jam is corrected or print is cancelled, the printer prints unrecognizable characters (2 or 3 lines per page) at the top of the page and prints at least 60-100 pages which is a huge waste of paper and time. What do I need to do to stop this from happening?

I have the same problem. The only fix I have found to date is to cancel the print job, then turn off both the computer and printer and reboot the whole system. This will fix the problem about 50% of the time. My next step will be to download new drives from HP to see if the latest drives fix the problem.

First when you see that first page come out like that...turn the printer off. You will need to re-install the printers drivers. (the CD that came with the printer)

Where is the cancel button?

Most printers don't have a cancel button. You get to "cancel" by going into your computer START menu then selecting CONTROL PRINTER then select CANCEL PRINT JOBS. In the future, I found the safest way to avoid accidentally printing more than intended is to always select "Current Page" when ordering a print job.
I hope that helps.

Fixed a paper jam, printer started to print one line

When the printer jamed and you had to pull out the jam, the data being tranfered for that job got out of sequence. On Deskjets when that happens, you need to go to the print spooler and delete the job it is printing or you will have the same problem evertime.

Everytime I try to print to my PIXMA 9000 I get an error from the print spooler that the printer is not responding. THe print job starts to print, stalls after a few lines.

1. First, clean your printer. Get some spray-n-wipe cleaner and a clean cloth and clean the entire inside of the printer. Also ensure your paper isn't dirty. Now print a test page. Does the symptom persist?
2. Remove all jammed paper. Check the paper tray first. Look closely at the paper rollers nearest where the paper exits the printer; this is a common source of jams. If you’re trying to print labels, they will often jam just before exiting the printer.
3. Try to print a test page. Does the printer still jam? If you can find no source of the jamming, check the printer's message display window and refer to your user’s manual to look up the printer error code.

1. Check the printer and/or the software to see if "manual feed" is selected. If manual feed is selected, the printer may be looking for paper in another tray.
2. Reseat paper. Ensure printer is on-line. Check for paper jams or obstructions.
3. Likely suspect: paper-out sensor is damaged or broken. Consult a computer repair shop.
