Question about Computers & Internet
Need instructions to operate built in camera on my new ASUS epc900ha netbook. None came with system.
When your computer boots up does the small light next to the camera come on for a second of two and goes back off. If it does it means that the camera has been detected by the system. You can check by going to the settings, control panel, system, hardware, device manager, imaging devices and see if the camera is shown in the list. If it is the the computer has configured the camera and this can be confirmed by right clicking on the camera and checking the properties to see what it says.
Unless the notebook came with a program directly associated with the camera, then the actual camera operation will take place in the program that you will be using the camera in like Skype, Yahoo or some other video messaging program, at which time during the configuration you will tell the program what device you want to use for the camera, usually from a drop down list, select your camera and it should start working with the program. In other programs you can use it as a capture device by selecting it as the device to use to capture a picture. Good luck, RAC

and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "ASUS
Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support).
Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating
system when requested. Download and install the Webcam drivers.
Try using ManyCam.
You can always download Manycam and install it. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type: "download.cnet.com" (without the quotes). Click on the link to go to the site. When the site opens look down on the left and you will see a gray area that says Find Software. Type "Manycam" (without the quotes) in the white search area then hit the search mirror. When it brings back your results look for the one that says ManyCam Virtual Webcam. Down load it and install it. Make sure you remove the check box on any junky programs it would like to install. You only want to install ManyCam, no additions whatsoever during the install. ManyCam is totally FREE and easy to use, and you will always know where your webcam software is.
