Canon ir1270F Multifunction, when making copies from the Automatic Document Feed or Platon the machine works perfeclty, however after printing a received Fax of report from the machine we get the "error incorrect paper size" after resetting the machine by moving the snnaer assenbly across or switching the machine of and on again it prints out the same page again and errors again, this will go indefinately until we carry out an all clear in service mode. any ideas ?

    Hi Sodeep

I have tried that serveral times to no avail. the only way to clear the job is to carry out an All Clear in Service Mode. Making copies and sending Faxs is fine (unless we have confrimation reports swiched on then it errors after printing the Transmission report). The paper cassette is set correctly, the problem occurs on received Faxs and internal reports. The machine is not used for printing, just Photocopying and Faxing. If we switch to copying mode while the error is on the display we can still Photocopy OK.

  • a_stewart Apr 21, 2009

The machine only has one paper tray and it can not be inserted the wrong way round the same tray is used for photocopying, received faxs and reports

  • a_stewart Apr 21, 2009

This machine is not and has never been connected to a computer, printer drivers are therfor not relevent, I have seen the document you suggested before, this machine is an iR1270F and I have checked all the paper size settings

  • a_stewart Apr 21, 2009

Thank's for your suggestions. However why does it feed paper without error when photocopying, its using the same papaer cassette, the same paper feed system and paper path

  • a_stewart Apr 27, 2009

I have searched the Canon UK site and can't find any downloads for the Canon iR1270F and ideas?

  • a_stewart Apr 27, 2009

emissionwiz sugested I need to update the Firmware not the printer drivers. As I have said before this machine is not and has never been setup as a printer, It is just used as a photocopier and Fax machine, it is not connected to a PC.

    Hi,

The other reasons for the same might be :-

Feeder Control PCA board,Sometimes it could be a Paper Feed Assembly or sometimes Registration/Feed Sensor ***'y.

However, more likey seems Feeder control Pca board fault.Replace and that would fix your issue.

You can order that at many online sites like :-

    http://www.ebay.com

    http://www.partsnow.com

    Thanks.

When taking printouts or useing it as a scanner, finish the job and restart the printer m/c. After it finishes with the POST test and settles down, try operating the fax. This time it should work if the right paper is fed the appropriate feeder trays and the slides have been moved to the correct position. This could be hapening because the copier is still in the printing mode hens comes up with that error message. On restarting it the machine should get in a position to whatsoever the next operation command that it recieves........................sodeep

Yes the error message you are getting is specific to faxes or internal report. This particular function uses the paper fed in the fax tray only. Setup the fax only. See that it works perfectly witjout loading the other paper trays.Recieve and send faxes. Make sure this is set up properly and no error messages appear as before. If They Do, then reset it again, maybe with the paper cassette inserted the other way round? Once this gives you error free operationstay with & consult the authorized service center for help if required. Only the load up the copier paper, etc............................sodeep

How do I get rid of the lines when I make copies. It dose not happen if I print a scan

If you are using the ADF ( automatic document feed ) for your copies, raise the scanner cover and clean the strip window to the left of the main platen. If you are using the platen for copies and getting lines where scans are clean - you have a physical issue and it should be checked out by a technician.

Can i make copies witht he brother hp 2040 printer

A printer would produce print outs of documents in versions known as hardcopies(paper). However, multifucntion devices usually would have an area on the printer that allows to feed in an aready printered document to be reproduced several times into several hardcopies(paper copies). Unless that, the printer has multifunction capabilities, in which instance would be in writing specified as capable of performing printing, copying and several feature functions, it would be unlikely to perform copies from an already existing document.

My printer is fine when i am printing from my computer, but when i make a copy, there is a line down the page

Be sure the glass is clean.
If the Canon is anything like HP and you are using the ADF there is a thin strip of glass on the left end of the flatbed. This is where scans are read when using the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder)
All it takes is a tiny speck on the glass to cause lines on the copy. Clean it by spraying a glass cleaner on a soft towel and wiping

Hello I just figuered out this problem. When the paper is feed thru the ADF ( Automatic Document Feeder ) there is a plastic piece with a plastic film. Check to see if #1 that plastic film is clean and #2 That the Film is not bent and created a crease which is the line that shows when try to print or scan using the ADF. Hope this helps

What button do you push, or how do you make a double sided copy on this machine...I've been stuck for awhile. thanks

Canon PC 921 copier does not offer automatic duplexing. It is possible to copy first side, then take the copy and feed it into the bypass (manual) feeder on the right side of copier with printed side facing down or placing in paper cassette printed side facing upward. Don't forget to change your original for second side.

Anita,

Put the pages in the "multiscan" all at once, not just one sheet at a time. The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) will feed one sheet of your document at a time untill all of the pages are scanned...

Mel, this is what I found in the online manual:

Set the Ink Drying Wait Time longer.
Doing so gives the time enough to dry the printed surface so that paper curling and ink blots are prevented.

(1) Make sure that the machine is turned on.
(2) Open the printer properties dialog box.
See Opening the Printer Properties Dialog Box Directly from the Control Panel.
(3) Click the Maintenance tab and then Custom Settings.
(4) Drag the Ink Drying Wait Time slide bar to set the wait time, and then click Send.
(5) Confirm the message and click OK.

Make sure that the actual size of the paper is suitable for automatic duplex printing.
The sizes of media suitable for automatic duplex printing are A4, Letter, A5, B5, and 5" x 7".
Load paper of suitable size and then press the OK button.
Make sure that the Page Size or Paper size setting matches the actual size of the paper with a size suitable for automatic duplex printing.
First, check the Page Size or Paper size setting in the application software you are printing from.
Then, check the Page Size setting on the Page Setup sheet in the printer properties dialog box (Windows) or the Paper size setting on the Page Setup dialog box (Macintosh).
Note
Depending on the version of the application program, the automatic duplex printing may not be supported.
Make sure that the type of loaded paper is suitable for automatic duplex printing on the Main sheet (Windows) or the Quality & Media sheet on the Print dialog box (Macintosh).
Note
To switch to manual duplex printing, follow the procedure below.

Open the printer properties dialog box, clear the Automatic check box on the Page Setup sheet, and reprint.
When performing manual duplex printing, note the following.
If you are printing three or more pages of a document with manual duplex printing, one side of all sheets of paper will be printed first. Turn over the paper and reload the paper in the machine, and then the reverse side of all sheets of paper will be printed. Be careful not to change the order of paper in the stack.
The procedure for reversing the paper varies depending on the staple side and printing orientation. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Ricoh C21SF Automatic Document Feeder (ADF)

Take a little soap and a little water and clean the gray feed tire that is located in the document feeder. Check for any paper obstructions. If the machine has had a lot of prints I would replace the feed tire.

Legal Sized 2-sided Copies through Automatic Feed

Does the copier print correctly when copying off the glass? I suspect that the document feeder has been set up to feed other paper sizes eg A4, A4R. Because of the conflict between sizes the copier adjust the image.
