Despite the "hours left" on your projector, the lamp could be nearing the end of its life. Recommendations:
1. Make sure the vents and filters (if applicable) are clear of dust and debris.
2. Make sure the projector is well ventilated. (i.e. no obstructions around the vents)
3. Replace the lamp. They're around $200 on eBay. After replacing, reset the lamp timer (see your manual).
4. After replacing, run the projector in eco-mode if the brightness is acceptable. This will extend the life of your lamp.
5. Always let the projector cool down before unplugging the power or turning the master power switch off.
I don't know what would cause the inability to access all the menu options.
Hope this helps somewhat.

- Unfortunately, all projector lamps fade over time. I have a Sanyo Z3 that required a lamp replacement at only 800 hours due to a dim image.
Here's some great background info on projector lamps.
