Question about Royal 160MX Shredder
Approximately 5-10 seconds after turning the unit on, it starts to run and will not stop. There is nothing in the feeder and everything appears normal. I can push the reverse and it will stop, reverse, stop, then start forward again. I have to turn it off to stop if from running.
I used alcohol on a q-tip to clean the sensor. I completely dissasembled my unit only to find it was unnecessary. The senosors are in the middle of the slot above the metal roller bars. There is a small 1/16" photo sendor on either side of the slot in the middle. they look like small holes in a square area. (Royal 15mx)

Blow out the sensors with some compressed air (Computer Duster). Some times a build up of paper dust will cause the sensors to beleive there is paper present when in fact there is not.
The sensor is usually located center of the opening, can be a photo eye or a lever.
you might want to take it outside, wind at you back then blow it out.
Be sure it is unplugged before attempting any sort of repair.
Hope this is of some help.
