Need to know the gas and oil mixture for a Homelite 2 cycle weed wacker

Check your manual for the proper gas-and-oil mixture. For almost all modern two-stroke engines, a 50-to-1 mixture is recommended. That requires about 2 1/2 oz. oil for every gallon of gasoline.

What kind of gasoline?

  1. Check your manual for the proper gas-and-oil mixture. For almost all modern two-stroke engines, a 50-to-1 mixture is recommended. That requires about 2 1/2 oz. oil for every gallon of gasoline.

  2. Use only two-cycle oil for your mixture. This oil is made especially for these engines and can be purchased at gas stations, hardware stores or any other place where you buy regular motor oil.

  3. Pour the proper amounts of gas and oil into a fuel can. Shake the can well to mix it.

  4. Label your gas can with the mixture ratio. You can use the same mixture for other two-stroke engines.

  5. Shake your fuel can thoroughly every time you refuel. After a while, the oil will settle out of the gas, and shaking it up ensures that the oil and gas are properly mixed again before you put the fuel into your chainsaw.

Spark plug fouls out after 5 minutes of running

If plug is sooty, this is due to mixture being too rich. This can be caused by dirty air filter,
Clean or replace the filter and if this doesn't improve the situation, adjust the carburettor to ensure the mixture isn't too rich. The procedure for this is to turn the adjustment screw (if there is one present) slowly anticlockwise until engine almost cuts out, then turn the screw clockwise until engine almost cuts out. Set the screw halfway between these two positions.
If the plug is black and oily this could be due to engine bore wear and oil getting up by the piston into the cylinder (in the case of a 4 stroke engine) or due to an excess of 2 stroke oil in gas (in the case of a 2 stroke engine) Gas / Oil mix should be in the ratio of 50:1

My husqy 435 runs but skips and bogs when you give it gas! spark plug is good, air filter is clean. could it be the ignition pack?

It could be the ignition module, but if since it is firing I would say it is a bad fuel filter. Try replacing it. Also, try using fresh gas. Mix a 50/50 gas to engine oil mixture and put that in.

Hi im after the fuel mixture for a 125L husqvarna straight shaft brush cutter.thanks

From you manual:
Two-stroke oil
For great results and performance use HUSQVARNA two--stroke oil, which is specially formulated for our two-stroke engines. Mixture 1:50 (2%). To maximize the life of your trimmer, you may choose to use a high quality synthetic oil formulated for two-stroke engines. Mixture 1:50 (2%). Never use two--stroke oil intended for water-cooled outboard engines, sometimes referred to as outboard oil. Never use oil intended for four-stroke engines.
WARNING! Always ensure there is adequate ventilation when handling fuel.

1 gallon of premium fuel to 2.6 ounces 2-cycle oil. 2.6 ounce pre-measured containers are available at most chainsaw outlets.

Fuel ratio 50:1 = 1gal premium/2.6oz quality 2-cycle engine oil
Fuel/Oil Mixture
  1. Use a quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL supplier's recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. There are no gouges or scratches on the piston or cylinder and I have no carbon build up on the piston top. The manual (on stone tablets) recommends 24:1. Over the years the mixture has leaned from 24:1 (Saw Recommendation) to 28:1 (Lawn boy mower recommendation) to 32:1 (Oil provider 2gal premium/8oz chainsaw 2-cycle engine oil - used for many years) and finally the last 5 (±) years 50:1 (1gal premium/2.6oz Stihl 2-cycle engine oil)
  2. Any fuel containing ethanol is not good with chainsaws. Mix what you expect to use within a few weeks. Anything over 1.5 months old use up in a 4 cycle engine. HTH

John Deere 120 w/20 hp B & S engine starts but dies 3 or 4 seconds later. Replaced gas, gas line. Didn't help. Lawn mower only 3 or 4 yrs old.

If the moewr has been sitting over the winter without being started, the carb' may have "gummed up " with stale petrol. You will have to remove the carb bowl have wash it out with some clean parafin and dry it off. Also clean out the jets in the carb and blow them out gently with an air line if you have access to one. if you are removing the jets, not where each one is removed from and do not over tighten when re assamblin. If there is an adjustable mixture screw, carecully screw it in all the way, then back it off about 1 and 3/4 turns. if the engine stalls when reved up back off mixture screw a little more. If engine is blowing black smoke, screw mixture screw clockwise a little at a time until the smoking is cleared, test the mower under load and increase the mix again slightly if required.
hope this solves your problem

Husqvarna 400 e series- I mixed the fuel 40-1 instead of 50-1

Hi
If you have good compression and spark at the spark plug try priming the engine(put some fuel mixture in the spark plug hole),set the carb adjustment(highh speed H=3/4 turn and lowspeed L=1 1/4 turn, turn the scews clockwise until the end and then set them.Try to start the engine. If it runs only the gas you puted inside the cilinder and then stops you have a fuel delivery problem to find and fix.First disassembly ,check and clean the carb. Then the fuel filter and the hoses.Let me know. best regards savumihai71
