Question about Panasonic PV-P1 VHS-C CASSETTE ADAPTOR

1 Answer

CASSETTE ADAPTOR VW-TCA7E tab won't retract when I place the video camera cassette in the adaptor and close the cover. The triangle-shaped tab is on the left side of the adaptor and when it has not retracted prevents the adaptor from being inserted into a vhs tape player. The rest of the processes seem to occur normally as the cover is closed (the electric motor whirs and a small roller swings into action placing the tape into a new position).

No for some reason, the tape won't even go into the cassette when I taped the red tab?? Kinda strange though, I hoped that would work.

Hi.

My name is Rick and I am the owner and technician of Discount Camera Repair. The problem you are experiencing can be repaired fairly inexpensively but will require disassembly by a qualified technician. The camera will need to be disassembled to remove the tape mechanism and then the tape mechanism will need to be disassembled to repair. If I can be of any help please call or email me and I'll get the camera working for you.

Have you tried cleaning the camera with a cleaning cassette.

You can buy one wherever they sell cameras and you just run it in the machine once or twice and it should start working.

Please let me know if you need any additional help

Thank you for using Fixya and Good luck

Hi Donald. not sure how many calls you get from

The fault seems to be in the sensor and the mode switch of the loading system which is connected with the main controller processor and loading driver.
This can be a failure of the tape end detector which is a IR - infra red- emitter which is placed in the center of the tape tray and MUST feed continuous signal to the END IR detectors placed at either ends.
Also the tape seems to load with a false detection of the cassette within when the tray is closed for this reason of the failure along with a possible misplaced mode switch settings. This triggers to make the loading move without a reason and so can be due to failure of the the mode switch or unbalanced settings. You will need some experience to remove the tray unit, then check on the IR sensors and also check the settings of the loading drive and mode switch.

I need a replacement Cassette Adaptor VW-TCA7E thanks Roy

This does the same job as the original Panasonic version. Note that the link is for example only, there are other suppliers of VHS-C to VHS adapters.

You'll be very lucky to find an original one these days, they're long out of production and used examples may also be nearly worn-out.

If the above hyperlink didn't work, cut and paste the following into your browser:-

Where do I buy a Panasonic cassette adaptor VW-TCA7E VHS

You can get a cassette adaptor that will except any VHS-C tapes and play them back on any standard VCR from Maplin www.maplin.co.uk.
They are £14.99 plus post! It's unlikely that you just have to have the Panasonic one!

My sony trv37 cassette door won't close.

If this condition only occurs with as cassette inserted to load this may indicate a condition where the cylinder which holds the video heads is not spinning up when requested by the system control microprocessor.
If the door will not latch closed with/or without a cassette inserted this can indicated a mis-timed condition of the tape loading mechanism.
Try closing the door without a cassette loaded whilst the unit is powered from its AC Adaptor - under certain conditions this may allow the mechanism to reset and may allow the door to then close.
I trust that this information is of assistance! RHN
