Actually some GPS units do not show coordinates. Make sure you have one that does. A lot of the early Garmin units didn't have coordinates or a way to enter new ones.

How to put in cordinance

Navigating to latitude and logitude is not supported on all devices. If it is supported on your GPS model, from the main MENU, tap CHANGE PREFERENCES, then tap SET UNIT, select the Latitude and longitude format in the Coordinate display screen and tap DONE.

Then from the MENU - tap Navigate TO ... select Latitude and Longitude, enter the coordinates and tap OK

The 5th digit the cordinates N & W WILL NOT LET ME PICK ANUMBER 6

You need to make sure your unit is set for decimal degrees. It's probably set for a different format.

Main menu> Setup >Units > hddd.ddddd

Cant find how to manually input cordinates

First create a waypoint, and then modify it. Hold down the enter button for two seconds (the thumb-toggle on the face of the unit). This opens a screen with a number at the top and coordinates of your current location below. Once you've grabbed the coordinates you can change the name and the coordinates and the name and save it as a waypoint. Use the thumb-toggle to bring up number pads and letter pads for each line.
