Hi there your system is showing right only. this is because the motherboard has an inbuilt video card which will take some amount of the ram to utilize it as vram or video ram. your motherboard is taking 16mb of video ram.
this is a natural thing. there is no need to worry.
and you can decrease this to 8mb or even 1mb. but is not recommended as the small video size cannot support video playback and also gaming.
this 16 mb of memory is used to display the images to the monitor screen to which you are viewing.

if you want full details.
just do this
go to start -> run -> dxdiag
in that if a checking dialog box appears for whql checking.just press yes.
then go to display tab and see the video sharing memory in approx video memory and also several details will be present there.

hope this helps you.

This is because your motherboard has an onboard video card which shares the main memory ie., ram
your video card is using 16 mb of ram which is used as video ram or vram. you cannot get complete 256 mb unless you place a separate video card.
you can check how much your video card is using the system memory in the following way.

    start->run-> dxdiag
in this check the display tab in that, the approx total memory is the memory that is being shared by the ram.
so in order to get complete 256mb place a new video card.
you can still decrease the video memory sharing to 8mb, but will have an effect on total video playing or gaming. this is not recommended.

I have intel desktop board D865GBF WITH INTEL PENTIUM 4 PROCESSOR PLEASE SUGGEST ME SOME ACCESSORY FOR UPGRADING MY PC PERFORMANCE AND QUALITY

You can start with the CPU. Here is a list of supported processors for your motherboard.

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D865GBF/sb/CS-026966.htm

Then your RAM can be increased. See this page for approved/tested RAM modules:

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D865GBF/sb/CS-027111.htm

If you should install 4 1GB modules, you will only show 3.5 if you use a 32-bit operating system.

The third thing you can do is to add or upgrade a video card. This board has an 8X AGP slot. It is compatible with 0.8V or 1.5V cards only. Install one with the greatest amount of memory you can afford. Suggest 512MB or 1GB.

Those are the main improvements you can make to this, or any board for that matter.

Good luck. Thanks for using Fixya.

I am using intel 845 GVSR mother board with p4 2.4Ghz processor and 256mb of ram.. my problem is whenever am playing any high resolution video or any HD video, the monitor screen became black and after...

If you have only 256 MB of RAM with a P4 system...there is most likely your problem....

I recommend that you increase your ram to at least 1 GB -- 2 GB if you can afford it and your board will support it. You will find that your system will be much faster, more responsive, and will most likely crash a LOT less!
