Are you saying that the printer prints in B&W but not in color, or only that it will print a test page with B&W? It might be that the color ink cartridge is dry.

I have a laptop that has vista OS and when I try to print using my Lexmark p3150 printer I get a "trouble communicating with the printer" warning. Is there a driver that will correct this? I...

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

You may also try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/ieDcBl. Select your operating system, download and execute the file.

Fax will not print: I connected the fax machine and plugged it in. It sends faxes OK. When a fax is sent to it, nothing comes out. The sending fax doesn't receive an error message, seems like all went...

Does the machine print anything? such as a directory or print when making a copy? I rather suspect it does not. When an incoming fax is recvd does the paper get pulled in and come out blank? If so your problem is with printing (or lack of it). Perform head cleaning. Also make sure the black cartridge still does not have its deal stuck on it. Post again if you still have problem.

Some people have success with varying brands of generic carts, some don't. You can try copying many pages of anything many times. say 50, then run head clean routine. Repeat up to 250 copies. If after this still white pages, get genuine carts and repeat until it works. If no go the head is probably clagged up with generic ink. Then you need to pull it and soak, but don't hold your breath.....

My rx680 was printing fine and my hard drive crashed and it stopped printing Jim j_englund@mac.com   I attempted to load the drivers and get it printing but all the printer did was run paper through the...

First of all we need to establish if the printer actually prints anything. Disconnect from PC and try photocopying a document. If it prints a blank page then it is most likely to be clogged print heads. Use the maintenance button to run the print head cleaning cycle, it may take 4 or 5 attempts. If still nothing then leave for about 10 hours and run another set of head cleans. If still not printing you may need to apply a head cleaning solution such as this one:
http://www.powerklin.co.uk/?gclid=CNGDypir-JgCFQ4yQgodZlC4lw

If the photocopy prints OK then the problem is more likely to be software & driver related on the PC. Make sure that the USB cable is good and check that all USB ports are showing OK in your device manager. Completely uninstall old printer drivers and try a fresh installation.

Good luck, please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.

Will it mess up my printer if i pulled the paper out

No. But, do this while the power is off. And get a firm grip on the center of the paper and pull with increasing constant pressure until the paper come out. You don't want to risk tearing the paper. Should that happen, open the cover and see if you can't pull it out backwards. In fact, if there is more paper stickng out the top than the front, pull it out from that direction.

After you get the paper out, remove the paper from the feed tray. Turn the printer on and let it go through its startup diagnostic (that's what all the commotion and noise is about when you turn it on.) Once complete, add some paper to the tray and from either the LCD Panel menu options, run the print head alignment test and set the values according to what lines line up exactly and punch those numbers in. The print head alignment test may also be available to you from the printer's program menu tools or from the Start Menu, Printers and when your printer shows up in the box, right click your printer, choose Properties and there may be a set of tools from there that will run the print head alignment test.

That's the long and short of it, Yes, pull it out from above, from the feed tray or from the front, whichever has the most paper exposed. Then run the print head alignment test to reset the alignment.

Worldvet

Color problem

Try this;

Canon will hate me for this.

1. Remove ink cartridges.
2. Remove print head.
3. Go to sink or tub (stainless steel, not plastic type), pick up a roll of paper towel on the way.
4. Fold several layers of paper towel and place on flat surface.
5. Run hot water until HOT!
6. Turn hot water back to a dribble.
7. Run the dribbling hot water through print head being careful not to wet the gold contacts.
8.When water running through print head is clear, place print head on paper towel.
9. Repeat number 7 and 8 until no colour shows on paper towel.
10. Gently DAB print head (DO NOT WIPE) inside and out with dry paper towel until dry.
11. I normally replace print head after drying, but you may wish to let it air-dry overnight.
12. Replace print head in printer and install cartridges
13. Start printing.

I do this to all 4 of my Canon printers every 6 months or so.

If any colour fails to print after this process it means your print head probably needs replacing.

Not printing on last copy

My guess is it?s probably the print head. These things are designed to print on single sheets so even though it?s probably well within specs it still doesn?t have enough force to push an image to the last page. Less likely but never the less a possibility this could also be caused by inconsistent paper in the two boxes. Continuous feed, multi-part forms in a box are made by several manufacturers and have different characteristics. -You might try flipping the box of forms from the printer that works to the one that doesn?t just to make sure it?s not the forms. When I used to use multipart forms we would place orders for several boxes of the same form and occasionally some would be from a different manufacturer. The paper looked the same but the characteristics were way different. By the way we tried to do four-part but could never print beyond three part forms. Our fix was that we decided we only needed one in-house copy. -If the problem doesn?t follow the paper then I would suspect the print head. Panasonic print heads are fairly easy to replace and fairly inexpensive so I would try changing it out. With a lot of use the print heads do wear out so even if this doesn?t solve this problem you?ll have a spare when your vertical characters start looking wavy?. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate this post.
