Re: Door can't be opened
Potential reasons for it:
- Door Lock/Switch Assembly Failure - In this case it should be replaced.
- Door Lock unit is broken or removed from the door.
- Look for disconnected wires to the door Lock/Switch unit.
- Door Lock/Switch unit Failure
First disconnect the machine power cable from the wall socket. You should remove machine's top cover and then you will have an access to the door lock unit.

turn off . turn off power point. Wait 3 minutes then turn on power point. Try blowing on drain pipe then turn dial to spin cycle .
See if water pump is engaged during spin cycle.
Don't know if you can manually open the door
Had a similar problem and found the water pump was not pumping the water out and spin cycle was failing to complete.
Check filter of front loader as well .
Not sure if you mean when it is fully off or operating, but if you mean that once it is operating the door won't open, then the following applies...
Once a front loader wash cycle starts, the door on a front loader is physically (electronically) locked until the full cycle ends after spin dry. This is to prevent anyone opening the door and letting all the water out in the middle of the wash cycle, which a lot of people try to do to put in more clothing etc.
smelly front loader???all front loader tend to leave a little water left over in the inner tub after every load, always leave washer door a crack open to reduce smell/mold on seal,to get rid of smell simply run a normal cycle,no clothes, with a dose of bleach or better yet AFFRESH,made by whirlpool,a bleach tablet with fragerance, sanitze and smells good!!answer,,,AFFRESH
It is because of the front loading door..
It seals shut - so after you do a load and shut it,, midew forms in certain areas..
Run a white load and use bleach..
After wash - (as all washes) leave the door open..
This might have to be repeted a few times - but it WILL go away..
Remeber to leave the door open after every load..
Check and ensure that the tubes and passages to the water level pressure sensor are not blocked by caked detergent, lint , etc. ( this may have caused the water overflow in the first place) clean up the internal parts that are wetted by the overflow.
clean the door lock mechanism. ( this normally works on a temperature delay mechanism, if cleaning does not work, replace)
all the above done with the power unplugged and water inlets unplugged , of course
