When developed pictures are returned the bottom portion is shaded

My brother says when developing his pictures from the Rebel K2, 7/8's of it is perfect, while 1/8 has a shaded area. What could possibly be the problem?

Sounds like your shutter blades may be out of position. That can be repaired. Canon is located in Jamesburg, NJ or you may contact an Authorized Service Center. I don't know where you are, but there is one in Florida 305-653-7355.
good luck

This if often a faulty toner issue. If you are refilling it might be time for a replacement carrier. Alternatively have you checked your transfer belt for areas of damage

Very dark pictures

hi melissa,
your problem is the focusing areas, im sorry that I do not know how to turn it off, the rectangle you see is the area is focusing on, and the darkness is what the camera doesnt focus on, try reading the manual, or turning it off yourself.

I have a Canon XT Rebel, I just want to find out if you can see the picture you want to take on the display before taking it?

Sorry, the Rebel XT does not have the live view feature. This is a relatively new development in dSLRs and the XT missed the cutting edge.

Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but there it is.

Why do my pictures come out black when they are developed

If we assume that the lens cap has been removed for the pictures, then you have other issues. The shutter is not opening. Why?
1. mechanical issue like something broken, bent, jumped out of the track.
solution: repair shop

2. electronic issue like exposure module died, misreading exposure sensor, flash not raising and firing, etc.
solution: repair shop.

Repair shop will also Clean, Lube and Adjust.

Black line across top of all my developed pictures

You have light leak somewhere to the film.
Usually from the bad film door seal.

deatech,

I am going to answer this even though there was no reply to my clarification report.

No, it is not a HVPS problem. This is a magenta developer problem. The magenta developer for some reason has the highest failure rate of all the developers, including black. Perhaps because there are more shades of magenta in color prints.

Since you changed the toner, we can assume you are not out of magenta, but it is possible that you did not run a developer cleaning in the maintenance mode on the magenta developer.

If the magenta toner had been allowed to run out all of the way, a developer cleaning would allow the toner auger to move fresh toner from the toner dispenser, through the feed tube, into the developer.

If you have run the developer cleaning, and you can see that there is magena toner on the magenta developer ( for clarification, the developers are located behind the imaging drum. remove the drum to expose the 4 developers ), then the developer itself is defective.

Good luck.

Cory
