If you are on a corporate domain, this setting has probably been disabled by your systems administrator. This means that they are controlling the update process from the servers and won't allow users to update. If you are running this as a standalone product on your home computer, you shouldn't be having the problem at all, unless it was installed as a "managed" workstation while connected to your corporate domain, then you won't be able to get updates until you reconnect it to your corporate network. Hope this helps.

This solution is if your running on a home pc. You should try going to start, then run and type services.msc click ok. Your services will come up. Look for something that looks like symatec. If it has been disabled you can enable it from this screen. Hope this helps.

Symantec Norton Internet Security 2009 Run liveupdate

I see that you are using an older version of Norton Internet Security. I suggest you to update your program to the latest version. You can download the installation file from the link www.norton.com/nis11 and follow the onscreen simple instructions. I am sure that upgrading to the latest version will fix your Live Update issue. Please also check if the computer's date and time is correct.

Muhaim

I am unable to run the liveupdate and iam getting lu1815 error me

SYMANTEC NO LONGER SUPPORTS THIS VERSION. YOU WILL NEED TO GET THE LATEST VERSION OR SWITCH TO A FREE PROGRAM. I USE AVAST - WHICH IS FREE - AND JUST AS GOOD AS NORTON. GO TO DOWNLOADS.COM AND SEARCH FOR AVAST.

Error 5 error LU1812 live update error 18 Have downloaded new version of norton 360 on sony va10 computer with windows vista and each time I try to update it does not complete because of these errors. ...

Download and run the LiveUpdate fix tool from Symantec HERE

After you run the fix tool, open Norton 360, click on the "Scans" link at the top of the window, choose "Comprehensive Scan" and then click the "Go" button This will take some time, but will thoroughly inspect your computer for infections

To address your other question regarding the LiveUpdate settings, you can change the configuration to use an HTTP proxy. To do so, please follow these steps.

1. Open the "Symantec LiveUpdate" Control Panel.

2. In the LiveUpdate Configuration window, click on the "HTTP" tab.

3. Click on the radio button that says "I want to customize my HTTP settings for LiveUpdate." Enter the information for your HTTP Proxy server, click the "Apply" button, and then click the "OK" button.

Please let me know if this process resolves the issue you are having with LiveUpdate. Also, if the scan finds any infections, please let me know what is found.
