Question about SE Electronics SE2200A Professional Microphone

1 Answer

SE2200a, No input signal

Recently bought an SE2200a Condenser Microphone, I am connecting it to a Behringer Xenyx 802 using the XLR cable but I have no input signal on the Xenyx. Phantom Power is turned on, pre-amps and volumes are also turned up.

Fixed the problem, due to a faulty XLR cable. Let this be a lesson to all people new to buying microphones, dont go too cheap on the cables.

If anyone else needs help diagnosing this problem I only heard a faint static sound when attempting to monitor the signal through my headphones with all the levels cranked up.

How can I reduce white noise / hissing I'm getting over the mic on a Behringer Xenyx 1204 USB setup?

Hi, you didn't say if the mic actually passes sound? The C-1 is a condenser Mic & needs phantom power - switch on the rear of your mixer. If that's no help, what happens if you disconnect the mic, then turn the levels back up? Still hissing or gone? If it's gone then it's the Mic - must use a 3 wire cable, preferably XLR so it gets the phantom power. If the hiss is still there without the Mic then sounds like the mixer is faulty - try some of the other channels..... How loau is the hiss - just in the background or as load as a vocal "one, two" test? A few things to check anyway...... Good Luck!

Xenyx 502usb not picking up mic

It sounds like you have a condenser mic hooked up to the XLR input. Phantom is not available on the other inputs, just the XLR.

Check page 8 of the manual. http://www.behringer.com/assets/Q1202USB_Q1002USB_Q802USB_Q502USB_M_EN.pdf

Please can you tell me the difference?

The microphone preamps are different. The Xenyx has lower noise mic preamps.

My behringer xenyx 802 premium 8-input mixer worked fine for 1 day but now it sounds watery and behringer support was no help at all

Sounds like it may have failed. Yes, it is likely that it needs to be returned. Another option is to unplug all inputs and outputs. Plug in ONE device into the board, and use the headphone jack on the board. Does it sound the same? Just basic troubleshooting may help.

I'm looking to run 5 live instruments through the behringer xenyx 802, is this possible? Would the split channels force the instruments to pan? Any help would be much appreciated?

You could use the Left inout of one of the stereo channels. You can pan it with the balance control as needed... HOWEVER remember these are LINE LEVEL signal levels into the stereo jacks... so if you are using instruments with low output you MIGHT have to use a preamp to go into these jacks. Try it... nothing ventured, nothing gained. Using a keyboard into these jacks would NOT be a problem.

How to connect a Behringer XENYX 2442FX Mixer to a laptop

you need a cable with two A3F  XLR s going to a 1/8" stereo phone plug, male. plug the XLRs into the Main out L&R on the mixer. plug the 1/8" into the LINE Input on the laptop. You should be able to get the cable from any music store,or Radio Shack. below is a link to the manual,in case you don't have one. Good Luck!

HI, My behringer 32 channel eurodesk mixer's some of the channels not working. No sound for the mike input. Please help. I am in phoenix, where can i take this?

Has somebody spilled liquid into the unit? Are you using XLR to XLR mic cables? If using condenser mics you need Phantom power on else NOT.

If the faders are noisy, use CRC226 in them. You can get that at Home Depot in the electrical dept.

NEVER use contact cleaner such as Deox.it or BlueShower in faders... it wrecks them

I have a Behringer 1202fx and I'm going to use it with a pair of Harbinger APS15. The line inputs on the APS15 are unballanced R&L RCA and XLR. The Behringer 1202fx mains are 1/4" unballanced...

Personally I would run the RCA outputs to the RCA in on the APS.
If you insist on using XLR from the APS to the board (like through a snake etc) I would higly recommend using XLR to 1/4" adapters. These things have wonderful little transformers in them (yes, wire wound transformers) that do the 1/4" to XLR conversion really nicely so that you can run your signal through the snake or just so that you don't get the hum and distortion that can be associated with unbalanced signal transfer.
You want a HI-Z unbalanced to LO-Z balanced adapter.
Not always easy to find, but if you absolutely cannot locate any, I have a couple in stock.
I suggest you look around though, because mine aren't cheap!

Connect xenyx 2442fx to computer

If you want to record in stereo, the quick and dirty way is to get a 1/4 inch stereo to 1/8 inch plug cable and go frrom the headphone output jack. (Use a Wye connector if you need to listen on the phones)

All the other outs are TRS and XLR balanced and the computer audio (mic) inputs are unbalanced. You would need special cables to connect those.

Shure sm58 mic does not have full power

You should consider a microphone with more power to get the volume you need. I can personally recommend the CAD C195 Cardoid Condensor microphone. It has great output. The only downsidefor most people is that they don't have phantom power. This is what gives the mic its boost. In order to get the most out of any micrphone, you need to have a preamp, an equilizer, and an output. The output is your PA system that drumbanger mentioned.

But since you are using a Peavey, here is my strong recommendation. Get a mini preamp, and hook it up to your Peavey. You can use a Behringer 2mic mixing board for your preamp. It's small, and it can sit right on top of the Peavey.

The reason why I suggest the two-mic XENYX 802 and not the 1 channel 502, is that the 1 channel doesn't have phantom power.

In order to connect the XENYX to your Peavey, this is all you need. You can get one at radio shack for pretty cheap.
