Question about Refrigerators

GE TPX24BPBGBB fresh food section won't cool

Tech out a few weeks ago found the water hose to the ice maker frozen. He unthawed it and icemaker worked again.....since then, not sure if it was this way when tech was here or not, fresh food section won't get much lower than 50 degrees F, but freezer seems fine at -10 degrees F. I've got the freezer temp control and the fresh food temp control all the way to the right (coldest) for several days, but no help.

I hadn't noticed ice buildup until you replied, but you're right, there is a layer of ice crystals on just the rear wall of the freezer compartment. I'll self-defrost it now and hopefully get the cold air circulating again in the fresh food part sufficiently until GE repair can come in a few days.

    Thank you!!!!

Have you noticed any ice built up on the rear freezer wall? it is very likely that you have a defrost problem situation,IE: Heater,Defrost Thermostat,Defrost Timer any failure in these components will cause an icing problem and therefore you will not get sufficient air flow to the Food Compartment

Why isn't it making ice?

Is ice maker getting water? If not check the solenoid that feeds the icemaker for operation. And also check freezer temp - icemakers will not work at freezer temps higher than 10 degrees.

Ge refrigeration model 20-25 icemaker not making ice

Fill ice maker with tap water and allow the water to freeze. If when the ice maker cycles and drops ice into ice bin it chooses not to refill with water at end of the cycle. That would point to the dual water control valve. If ice maker does nothing when filled with tap water that will indicate a defective ice maker. The model number you listed does not appear to be correct. Look around the fresh food section door frame and see what you have. This could be the ice maker or the dual water control valve causing this problem. Thanks Sea Breeze

Model PS26PSTASS SN GL 432433 Behind the bottom drawer the fan unit is frozen. Also the ice maker has water running out and freezing along with it doesn't freeze the cubes properly or discharge them...

The frozen fan is from a bad thermister located located behind the fresh food evaporator coil. The icemaker could be getting too much water or not level. The icemaker can be leveled by placing a washer behind the mounting stud.

The Icemaker is not working

When the door was open thawing and freezing occurred and your ice maker is now frozen up. there may even be ice in the water line feeding the ice maker.

Empty the entire side by side and unplug it for 24 hours with both doors open. This will solve your problem.

Your cold and frozen food will have to be stored elsewhere during this process so nothing spoils.

Freezer not cooling/making ice.

At this moment I think that you need to unplug the refrigerator and remove the ice maker to stop the leaking. Any extra water inside the freezer will make it harder for the defrost to remove the moisture. While the ice maker is out I want you to look to see if water is still leaking out the fill tube that feeds the ice maker tray. If it is then we found the reason. If not then we need to check some of the parts on the ice maker. Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze
