There are no drivers for the BA1000 in Windows Media Player.
You will need to either use their software or another comparable one.

PC not downloading device driver software

I have the same problem, except that I can get sync if i power the unit down after discoeccting the failed attempt to recognize USB device. Sometimes the MTP device prompt shows up and then doesnt when I try again, I solved this by downloading codecs and utilites for windows Media Player. I had ver,.10, went to 11. This seems to be better as the available downloads are more effective,

Now i can sync, still doesnt recognize all the time, but just unplugging it and restarting windows media player with the device unplugged seems to work. Use the Settings in WMP and open the "available devices or supported devices on web " and you can download free updates, codecs, etc,,, that got mine working.

Sansa Clip 2GB...WMP11 will recognize, but will not list in device pane in Sync mode...

Hah, figured it out! Had to roll back my version of WMP, which can simply be done by (in XP) going to Start > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs, and then click on WMP11 in the program list. Click remove, and it will ask if you want to roll back to the previous version of Windows. Click yes, and it will roll it back to the previous version of WMP11. Now, assuming you have an active internet connection, after you restart your computer, it will ask if you want to update your WMP. Click yes, and it will re-install the version you started out with, replacing drivers, .dlls, and anything you were missing before hand. Long story short, the solution was patching the holes in the program. I can now plug my Sansa Clip 2GB into the USB port, and WMP will recognize it right away (I can almost hear a small voice from inside my computer saying "would you like tea with that, mr. guy?" hah). I also found out you can have more than one media player connected at the same time! How cool is that? Great if you're trying to set up multiple players with the same playlists (promotional type stuff, business type stuff, etc.).

Deleting Videos

WMP doesn't recognize the players video file system, or your computer does not have the right codecs for WMP to recognize that file type

Delete from windows explorer instead - but be careful to only delete the videos, and not the system files/folders that control video for this player

Not recognized by PC

First off.. Make sure your software and drivers are up to date...

Second, try re-installing Windows Media Player or if you have WMP 10 installed, try upgrading to WMP 11.

Also, if you plug in something else to your USB port, does the PC recognize it? Or, if you try your GoGear on another computer, does it work ok?

Getting out of recovery mode

I have the sleek photo and mine bugged out yesterday. It would go to the splash screen and then go blank and just sit there. Nothing would respond. I tried reset, reboot and other things too. My pc also would not recognize the player. To make a long story short, I tried other suggestions I found on the web. They didn't work and my player would now only go to a garbled splash screen and go right to the recovery screen.

I had the new firmware, but I couldn't use it because the pc wouldn't detect the goofy player. Then I ran across a site that mentioned that Windows Media Player can cause player recognition problems. I removed both WMP (mine was 11) and WMP runtime using the add/remove programs option on the control panel. I restarted the pc and BAM! the player was now recognized. I ran the new firmware application and the player works fine now. The key for me was getting rid of WMP and the WMP runtime.
