System continuously reboots after initial format and copying of the files.

After i boot from the windows xp install disk; the drive is formatted and then the files are copied and the system restarts to complete the installation and it just continues to recycle. It does not give me a hard failure just continue to reboot.

If there is jumper setting in your second harddrive set it to slave drive. And the first boot drive to primary. If these doesn't help your installer disk have a problem.

Leave a comment if this doesn't help.

Can i remove a pirate copy of windows 7 and replace it with my genuine copy of windows xp

Hello,
you would need to insert to XP disc in the cd drive and reboot the pc. As the pc reboot whatch for "Press any key to boot from disk". This will make the pc bypass the hard drive and load the boot file from the XP disk. Once you have answered the inital start questions, it will give the option to format the hard drive or create an extended drive. If Win 7 is not needed any more, I strongly suggest doing the format and have a fresh, new install of XP, Genuine copy.

Good luck.

Install Windows 7 or Windows Vista on a Pc Without DVD Media

For user who doesn’t want to waste a DVD disc to burn the ISO to physical media, and does not have WinPE (Windows PE) startup disc, here’s a workaround method to install Windows Vista and Windows 7 into physical computer’s hard disk drive or partition (volume) directly with ISO without writing or burning to disc. The without-disc installation method is useful especially during beta and RC period of new operating system in the making, where the new build and new versionis launching and publishing every now and then. This tutorial guide assumes that the new Windows 7 or Windows Vista will be installed and replaced the original existing operating system currently installed. The instructions can be modified slightly (mainly on hard disk partition used) to fit into need of readers who want to have a dual-boot, multi-boot, or simply just to upgrade install to new OS.

1. Install a virtual CD/DVD drive on existing Windows operating system.
2. Mount the Windows Vista or Windows 7 installation DVD ISO image using the virtual drive.
3. Copy all files inside the virtual CD/DVD drive mounted with the ISO into any folder on any partition or hard disk drive not going to be used to install the Windows OS. For example, copy into E:\Windows7.
4. Copy the bootmgr and boot folders nested inside the copied folder (i.e. \Windows7) to root directory of system boot drive, typically C:\.

Note: For Windows Vista, users may need to use this step: Copy the bootmgr folder from E:\Windows7 to C:\ root directory, copy E:\Windows7\boot\boot.sdi file to same folder in C:\boot folder, and then copy bootsect.exe from the E:\Windows7\boot\ folder to C:\ drive.

Note: boot folder in system boot drive is hidden system folder.
5. Create a new folder named sources under the C:\ root folder.
6. Copy the boot.win file inside \Windows7\sources folder to the source folder created in the system boot drive, normally C:\.
7. Open a command prompt as administrator.
8. Run the following command (change the C to your drive path letter if applicable):

C:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt60 C:

For Windows Vista users who copied bootsect.exe to C:\ root folder, use the following command instead:

C:\bootsect.exe /nt60 C:

A successful message is the command completes successfully.
9. Change the name or label of the boot system partition local disk to BDCP or any name you prefer that easier to remember and type (in DOS command promot, use label command).
10. Restart the computer.
11. After booting up, the system will start the corresponding Windows installation process. Select the applicable language to install, time and currency format (regional settings locale) and keyboard or input method in the installation wizard dialog.
12. On the next screen, user will be presented with option to Install Windows. DO NOT press on Install Windows button, instead, click on Repair My Computer link on the bottom left corner.
13. In the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) System Recovery Options dialog window, click on Command Prompt to open a DOS Prompt window.
14. Run the format command to format the primary hard disk or partition to clean state:

format c: /q

Note: /q switch, which perform quick format can be omitted to full format. And if existing hard disk partition is of FAT32 filesystem format, use format c: /q /fs:ntfs to convert the file system to NTFS while formatting. Before formatting begins, the command may prompt for hard disk drive or partition label name, if so, enter accordingly (i.e. BDCP).
15. After format completed, start the Windows Vista or Windows 7 installation process again by manually running the setup.exe located in the copied. Note that the setup.exe is not the one located on boot system drive which copied at later step, as the boot drive has been formatted. For example:

E:\Windows7\sources\setup.exe
16. Continue with installation procedures by following on-screen instructions as per normal practice.

I WANT TO FORMAT MY TOSHIBA PORTEGE 7200CT LAPTOP TO WINDOW XP.HOWEVER,I DO NOT KNOW TO TO FORMAT

The instructions for this procedure are quite involved if you are talking about formatting and reinstalling the laptop operating system software. You need to have these things:
A Legitimate copy of the Operating system software on an official microsoft release CD that is bootable. Then you go to the bios in the startup usually by pressing the delete key while laptop is booting. then go to the boot proiority list and make sure the cd drawer is in the first option. Reboot the computer and then when the option to boot from cd comes up, press any key and it will boot from the cd.
Once the installation options appear, you need to select the hard disk to use and then select the format and install Windows XP. Select format using NTFS filing system and then the process starts to format the drive and install the file need to complete setup.
Once the GUI portion of set up installs and you have logged in for the first time, don't forget to change the boot priority back to the hard disk!
Hope this helps :D

Hi everyone, I would just like to know, does anyone know how I can obtain or create an emergency boot up disk for windows xp home edition? Many thanks. Andrew

When formatting a floppy diskette, users have the option of creating a MS-DOS startup disk, follow the below steps to do this.
  1. Place diskette in the computer.
  2. Open My Computer, right-click the A: drive and click Format.
  3. In the Format window, check Create an MS-DOS startup disk.
  4. Click Start

Stop:0x0000007B tried to boot in all modes..we go to blue screen with stop: cannot get a command prompt either

Issue : Blue screen with Error0x0000007B
Solution
I recognize the importance of resolving this issue and I look forward in providing you with the necessary assistance you need.

The above error comes if the boot volume is corrupted and cannot be initiated by Windows XP. or You are installing Windows XP on a mirrored boot partition that was created by Microsoft Windows NT 4.0.

To completely resolve your issue i think you have to reinstall the OS.
Have to format the Hard drive

requirement
the OS - XP Home / Premium Installation CD

Disk formatting is the initial part of the process for preparing a hard disk or other storage medium for its first use. The disk formatting includes setting up an empty file system. A disk formatting may setup multiple file systems by formatting partitions for each file system.

CAN'T INSTALL WINDOWS XP. The XP disk will reformat system and load window files, but after auto reboot it just stops and then wants to reload windows again from the beginning. ?????

The first time, insert the Windows CD-ROM, and start the reinstall.
Just before the auto-reboot, remove the CD-ROM, so that it will boot from the newly-formatted disk-drive, and continue with the rest of the installation.

I have a laptop lg e500 it was mabe for windows vista i down graded the operationg system to Xp and now everyting i access start run cmd and then i press enter it shuts down the computer

Best thing I can suggest, do a fresh install of Windows XP. If you have a boot disk, I would suggest going into fdisk and wiping out the paritions and then creating one primary partition. After that then reboot with the boot disk and then format the drive using the command "format c: /u/c" without the quotes. After the format is done then reboot with the windows xp cd and install windows xp. It'll be a fresh copy at this point. Lots of times when doing an upgrade or downgrade some files get corrupted and weird things can happen. Do it this way and let me know what happens.

I want to install windows xp sp2 instead of windows vista. there is inbuilt windows vista for my laptop hp compaq 6720s.plz healp me how can i install windows xp.

It's a relatively simply procedure, 1st download all of the necessary drivers for your laptop from Compaq's website under the support section. You'll want the drivers for Window's XP. Either burn these drivers to a CD or place them on a flash drive. Also if you already have documents or data on the laptop that you would like to keep you'll need to back that up as well to either a CD/DVD or a flash drive.

Next you'll need a Windows XP installer disk. Place the disk in your laptop and reboot. The system should prompt you, asking you if you'd like to boot off of the CD press any key. Hit any key and the computer should boot from the XP CD. The system will take a while as it loads up the installer shell. If the system does not boot from the CD you will need to go into the BIOS or CMOS and change the boot order for the computer to make the CDROM or DVD ROM the 1st boot device. The 1st prompt on the installer should be a license agreement, hit F8 to continue. The next steps will pretty much be up to you. Things like where you want to install windows XP, do you want to format the drive, etc. This sounds like your 1st install so you may want to leave everything as default. Windows should detect your Vista install and by default install it as a seperate installation allowing you to boot into either OS.

After the OS has prepared the hard disk and copied all files the computer will reboot and will boot into a installer kernel and will prompt you for even more selections. This process will take longer than the initial portion and most of these settings you can leave at default as well. When this part is complete the system will reboot again and your installation of XP should be complete.

When the system boots into windows it will ask you to create a user name, create a user name or multiple ones. Put in your driver CD or flash drive and proceed to restore your files and install your drivers. That's the revised version of it anyway.

Good Luck!
