SOURCE: there is no sound

Hello,

My name is Vikram Kumar Thumu, from India-Hyderabad. I have seen your message on the issue related to  sound issue . I would like to provide my suggestions on the issue. I hope that this should work for you and will resolve the issue.

Well, this issue could happen if the Sound drivers in your Pc got corrupted. To isolate and resolve the issue I recommend youu to try below solutions....

Solution 1:
-----------------

Reset the BIOS
This step resets the On-board Audio setting to Automatic for most HP and Compaq desktop computers. If you would like to keep your current BIOS configuration, or if resetting the BIOS to the default setting does not help, continue to Step 2: Change the on-board sound setting in the BIOS .

  1. To enter the BIOS, turn on the computer and press the F1 key repeatedly until a BIOS Setup screen opens. NOTE: On certain Compaq Presario computers (prior to 2002) press the F10 key instead of F1.
  2. In the BIOS Setup screen, press the F5 key.
  3. Select Yes or OK (press the Enter key). Press the F10 key. Select Yes or OK to save the default settings (press the Enter key).
  4. Start Windows and check for sound. If there is still no sound, go to the next Solution 2:

Solution 2:

----------------
If your computer does not have Windows XP, skip this Solution.. If you are experiencing no audio, the Windows Audio Service may have been disabled or set to manual. You may also see the messages There are no active mixer devices available or No Audio Device Found . To fix these errors, enable the Windows Audio Service by following these steps:

  1. Click Start , Run , and enter services.msc into the Open field. A services window opens.
  2. Scroll down the list of services and find Windows Audio.
  3. Right-click Windows Audio and select Properties
  4. Select Automatic from the dropdown list, and click Start to start the audio service

Click OK and test for sound using the same steps as above with the volume control slides.

  • If sound is now restored, a software program may have disabled Windows Audio or is preventing Windows Audio from automatically starting when Windows opens. If your computer continues to experience no sound after restarting the computer, repeat these steps to re-enable the Windows Audio Service.
  • If you still cannot hear sound, continue to the next solution 3.

Solution 3:

----------------

In this solution we need to remov sound drivers in Safe Mode

  1. Turn on the computer and press the F8 key repeatedly until a menu appears.
  2. Select Safe Mode and press Enter .
  3. In Windows XP, click Start , and right-click My Computer . In Windows 98 and Me, right-click the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop.
  4. Click Properties from the list that appears.
  5. In Windows XP, click the Hardware tab, then the Device Manager button. In Windows 98 and Me, click the Device Manager tab.
  6. Click the plus sign ( + ) next to Sound, video and game controllers
  7. Right-click a sound device name to be removed from the list. Do not remove Audio Codecs, Video Codecs, or Legacy Audio Drivers. .
  8. Select Uninstall or Remove .
  9. Continue removing sound devices until all are removed except Audio Codecs, Video Codecs, or Legacy Audio Drivers. NOTE: If the audio device is a combination sound-modem card (named Riptide or Conexant Combo in the list), remove items with Riptide or Conexant under the Modem section.
  10. Click OK .
  11. Close all programs, restart the computer

Once if you restart the try to Reinstal the sound drivers

  Steps are:

Windows should find new sound hardware. If Windows does not find any new hardware, refer to: Next Solution 4 to reinstall the original drivers.

  1. If a window appears stating that it needs help finding a particular file, browse and select the file using each of the following path names until the file is found:
    • C:\Windows\inf
    • C:\Windows\options\cabs
    • C:\Windows\system
    • C:\Windows\system32
    • C:\Windows\I386
  2. Click Continue Anyway on any Digital Signature Verification windows that appear.
  3. Restart the computer and test for sound.

SOURCE: No sound on my computer

Go back to the Control Panel, click on Add or Remove Programs, look for 'Add/Remove Windows Components' and check if the media player is checked.

Most sound cards and on-board sound chips have their own software but the Media Player will suffice.

If it is checked, go to 'System' (in the Control Panel), then click on the Hardware tab, then Device Manager.

Go down the list to see if Sound, video and game controllers has a red 'X' showing.
If it does, then either the driver is damaged or the hardware itself has failed.
If it is only the driver, you can delete the exed item and try rebooting to see if Windows restores it.

If that doesn't work, the you may have a system board problem (expensive).

Let me know how you do-

SOURCE: My Intel ESS ES1868F Sound card problem

Sounds like you need to install the correct drivers for your sound card. Usually the sound card comes with a CD that has the sound card drivers on them, but if you don't have the CD you can usually go to the website for the maker of the card and download the drivers from there. Once you have downloaded them install your drivers and presto you should be good.

My system sound hardware is fault how can to relif this problum?

Firstly check the volume is not low or muted on both windows and the speakers. In windows click the speaker icon in the bottom right of your screen, check the volume is turned up. Then click mixer or advanced and check that all volumes are turned up.
If using a laptop, check that the hotkey control for volume is on. You will see an audio icon on one of your ‘F’ keys, hold the Fn button located near the ctrl and press the volume function key.
Next open Device Manager from Control Panel and check there are no yellow exclamation marks on any drivers. If there are then you need a new driver.
If you are still having issues the sound card may be faulty, this is usually integrated into the motherboard. In a desktop PC you could buy a new PCI soundcard if you have a spare PCI slot in your machine.
You need to goto the manufacturers website, find their support section and there should be a list of drivers for your specific machine. Installing these should resolve your problem. I have a list of links to most manufacturers drivers on my website.
Hope this helps,

NO active mixer is one of the volume control, your sound card or your audio port is not installed. try to install again your motherboard installer and locate for the audio of it of for the soundcard. Then after that restart and when the sounds come then you successfully installed it

Sound card no found, no audio output deivice is install and sound, game cotroller not found, pls help

No Sound, No Volume Control, Mixer not Found, No Sound device installed…etc etc, This is a generic issue with all Windows OS updates....many of the users are facing this issue....this issue began after an auto update from MS changed many IRQs of Win OS, mainly the Sound and Audio Control system of Windows.
1 - R U facing NO Audio / No Sound issue...?
2 - Is ur Volume Control not responding ?
3 - Is ur Sound and Audio Device in Control Panel Grayed out ?
4 - Do u get a msg "No Active Mixer Devices Installed....when u try to open Volume Ctrl etc etc ?

If ur ans to any one of them is Yes...then u are being spammed by Microsoft....as ur Sound Control IRQ is being frozen by a recent update from Microsoft....

NOTE..THIS…IS…VERY..IMPORTANT...
No file update or any sound driver update can fix it, neither Microsoft is issuing any patch to fix it…or giving any help on this.
Full solution is available in my website (Support page)...it's quite simple process to fix it, and I am not charging any money, just trying to do some service and help everyone affected by this stupidity from Microsoft.

all the best...

My volume has stopped working its sayn no device

try unistalling the device from device manager, then reinstalling the drivers from hp. if your sound card is not built into the motherboard, then try to remove it and then put it back in firmly (with the computer turn off of course). if this does not help, a new sound card can be had for cheap from tigerdirect.com

Audio problem

You either have the wrong driver installed or a conflicting driver is present. Go to control panel->system->device manager-> look for the yellow exclamation point, double click on it and follow those instructions. If that does not work. Right click on the device, REMOVE, then reboot and let it refind it.

There is no sound

Plug the speakers into the green connector first of all.

Make sure the speakers/amplifier are working on another source.

Since you have the volume control on your systray (it is there, right?), you do have an audio card installed (or integrated one at least).

You might try this forum also to troubleshoot the error message about there being no mixer device:

http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=44823

This has to do with a WinXP WIndows Update perhaps.
