Check compressor capacitor to see if it’s good then check the contactor points and see if they are burnt or discolored if so then replace and make sure no wires are loose or burnt, then check the condenser coil to see if it’s dirty. Check to make sure outdoor fan is running and at full speed, if not then check the fan capacitor, and with the power and unit off spin the fan blade to see if it spins freely, if not the bearings are bad in the motor and it needs to be replaced.

Taking high ampere and tripping

Remove the belt and test motor for amp draw. If motor runs normal, most likely problem with compressor or check valve. If still high amp could be short in windings or motor start switch stuck on. If motor does not turn (loud hum) try spinning by hand to see if it starts. If motors runs after spin by hand, bad capacitor. Good luck

The compressor of my split a/c stops working but will pick again after some time

If your A/c is non-inverter type, then its normal.
another cause of stopping compressors are due to high amperes comming in to the compressor. (power surge or high ampere)

have your unit cleaned first, then check the amperes from your compressor using a clamp ameter.

another cause is the starting assist (a small box-like thing beside the starting capacitor). this prevents your compressor from running even if it has to. you can by-pass that starting assist thing.

Heat pump problems

Some heat pumps have high and low pressure swiches installed to keep compressor from running when unsafe conditions occur that can damage the compressor. If the outside fan is not turing on, the unit is cycling on high pressure, if you see ice forming on the big refrigerant line coming from the air handler, then the compressor is shutting down on low pressure. Low pressure can be cause by lack of air flow through air handler or from a low refrigerant charge.

About once a week the compressor get hot and shuts off. I have to leave hom for 12 hours then turn unit on and it cools for another week and shuts off again?

If compressor starts, check the running current of the compressor. If amperage is too high together with the discharge pressure, try cleaning the condenser fins and then after cleaning test the amperage and pressure again. If the pressure is still above the normal operating of 300psi, release some freon. If the discharge is too low below 200psi and running ampere of compressor is below the rated ampere of the unit add some freon from the suction line until it reaches 60-65psi. If still suspicious with the unit, try removing all freon charge and evacuate the system to 30 in. Hg to remove any moisture from the system and hold the vacuum for 30 minutes. If no increase in system pressure, recharge and check pressures and amperage.

My ac central air is blowing air but not cold

Problem #1:Outdoor condensing fan motor has stopped running. This problem could be caused by a bad motor run capacitor. If your motor capacitor is not the problem, then more than likely you need a new motor. Is the fan blade tight, stiff or hard to turn? If the fan blade is hard to turn then you probably need a new motor. Problem #2: Air conditioner compressor will not start. When power is applied to the air conditioning outdoor unit the fan starts, but you hear a sound like the compressor is trying to start, "UGGG"..., for about 5 to 10 seconds and then all you hear is the outdoor condenser fan run. The compressor is locked and will not start. What is happening is the compressor is trying to start, but because the compressor motor is locked it tries to start for a few seconds and then because of the high amperage being drawn goes off on internal overload. The internal overload protects the compressor windings from overheating and burning up. I see this many times during the start of the air conditioning season. Some compressors just have a hard time starting after sitting all winter long. Some compressors are locked up so bad that I can not start them and must tell my customer that they need a new compressor . Many times I can get the compressor started again without having to buy a new compressor or new air conditioning system by using the device known as a "Super-Boost." I keep two or three of these on the truck. They have saved many of my customers from having to buy new air conditioning compressor. Another good device is called a "5-2-1" kit.

Carrier outside Unit will not power on. Every 45 sec's to a 1min it will make a humming sounds like its trying to power on but wont. The fan unit inside will come on but will not disburse cold air

You probably have a bad run capacitor in your outside unit. You will need to cal a service tech to test and replace it, until then turn your system off until it is repaired. Continuing to try to run it will over heat the compressor and fan motor and cause them damage.

What problem occour when unit take high ampere.

When a unit starts to draw high amps, you start loosing motors, the compressor ect. If there is a problem with one of the componants, it will over amp and cause it to burn out. Each motor has a factory set amp rating on it and as it gets older and worn, it draws more current causing it to over heat and finally give out. It is important to have the unit serviced to keep the unit running as good as new. That is what occurs, burned out motors.
