I think I would take it back to the store and tell them the machine qualifies under the "Lemon Law" and you would like a new machine. Talk to the store manager, not the technician. Then, confirm that you are going to follow up with filing a complaint with the company's CEO. (Gather all your paperwork from the previous service calls and include copies of that information to the CEO.) If necessary, there are consumer departments you can pursue, ie Better Business Bureau, Consumer Protection Agency, etc. Also, indicate that this machine supports your business and if they don't get it satisfactorily addressed, you will be sure to advise everyone you meet in your business (including shows, conferences, etc.) to not buy HV products.
Usually, if you mention contacting the CEO, that will kick things into a different gear. I had a problem with a dishwasher--6 service calls in 6 months with 2-3 weeks in-between each that the machine was unusable. I finally wrote to the company CEO, sent all my records. The CEO was incredulous that it had been allowed to go on for so long. I got a new machine and I think the service company lost a contract.

I had the same dissatisfaction when I switched from the 1+ to the Designer 1. After some trials I am now happy. You need the springy free motion foot. Part #413 03 76-45. You take off the white shank and screw it on with the metal bar over the needle hook. In the set menu turn the SensorQ on, the free motion on, select stitch 1 from menu V and drop the feed dogs. It also makes a big difference to use the straight stitch throat plate which just has a small hole for the needle to go through. One other hint is that I often have to reduce my needle tension 3 or 4 steps. Hope it works for you.

The threading may be out of the channels. Rethread. Put in a fresh needle. Make sure you are using an embroidery needle and a new one for each new project. You can't use YLI bobbin thread. It stinks. If all this doesn't help, take it in to be checked These work great when there is not thread stuck in the bobbin case and it is threaded properly. If all is well, it will go like gangbusters.

You can have replacement discs ordered from Husqvarna Viking. Visit an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for them to order the replacement discs. However, you might luck out and they have some already on hand from a scrapped machine or a trade-in. You can find your nearest dealer by visiting the Husqvarna Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com and clicking on dealer link down the left side of the page.
Good luck.
SOURCE: Viking designer se screen is stuck in welcome
I purchased my designer se in 2006, and the frozen screen happened for the first time tonight as I was installing fonts on the machine. I did as suggested...got into update mode and installed the latest update and it worked! Thanks so much. I thought I would have to pay a lot of money to have the problem resolved. I am a happy DSE owner.
