Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

2 Answers

I have a Lanier 5515 A3 copier (Ricoh engine)? On changing the drum and not knowing the procedure I removed the fuser assembly. On reassembly I accidentally left the two small grey wires disconnected at the right hand end of the fuser (they plug into a small white connector). The first copy worked fine but on the second I got an SC541 error message which refused to clear after switching the machine off for 48 hours. Is there any way I can clear this error message?

Thank you for your advice but the manual you link me to is hard copy only 30 dollars...

Looking online I think that my model is a Ricoh Aficio 1015 equivalent and have downloaded a manual from http://www.eserviceinfo.com/download.php... Their pics look right and sure enough they tell you an SC541 will happen when you forget to plug in the small connector. But pressing square 1 0 7 round has no effect.
In the handbook they talk about entering SP 5-810 but I can't get in... please advise

SC 541 is Heating roller thermistor error.
This happens when the temperature measured by the heating roller thermistor does not reach 7 °C for ten seconds, or there is a lose connection of the heating roller thermistor

You need to enter Service mode , there are different procedures depending on the model. You find procedure on service manual here: 2009 NEW RICOH GESTETNER SAVIN SERVICE PART MANUAL

Below the two procedures I know for Ricoh machines.

First one is by holding down the "up" and "down" arrow for 10 seconds, and then pressing "enter" to clear the error.

or Press "clear modes", 1, 0, 7, then press and hold the "stop" key until you enter service mode.

Do not change anything else on service mode, or you can mess up the printer. Just get there , reset and exit.

Ricoh Aficio SP 4210N- Code SC 543

This is a common error code for Ricoh copiers, Savin and Gestetner copiers that need service. Recently Ricoh has purchased Lanier and now is naming all their new machines Lanier instead of Gestetner, Savin and Ricoh. However, the copier service error codes have remained he same.
When you get this copier printer service code it means the fuser or fixing assembly (same part) has thermistor problem. The copier fuser's thermistors help regulate the temperature of the fuser assembly. The fuser assembly on all copiers including Canon, Kyocera, Ricoh, Sharp and other brands is the part that melts the toner onto the page.
Getting back to the repairing the copier on Ricoh, Savin, Lanier and Gestetner models that have the fuser or fixing code error. The majority of the time the fusers' thermistors (Middle and read) need to be replaced. Just cleaning them will not solve the copier repair service code.
It is usually, depending upon the machine, its a 1 to 2 hour copier repair job because the copier repair service technician will need to dissemble the fuser, insert the two new thermistors, re-assemble, reset the error code and test the copier machine repair. Also, ask the copier technicians to to do a copier cleaning maintenance while on site.

Lanier 6613 copier. Image is offset down the page by 3 and 1/2 inches. Is this a setup issue? Any suggestions?

try making a copy and then open the door when the paper is in the center of the machine. if the image is offset before the paper hits the fuser(hot) rollers>the problem is in your drum unit (most likely a cleaning blade. If it happens after going through the fuser(hot) rollers you have a fuser roller problem. Most likely you have a worn drum cleaning blade which is cheaper the a drum. Good Luck.

I have a copier / printer Nashuatec Aficio dsm651. Everything works fine but when I print A3 meter marks my one and not two. The person who has it porata explained to me how to get in 'SP MODE machine...

Hi, in order to activate the double count for A3 paper, you have to go into "special" SP mode. The procedure is almost the same as going into regular SP mode, but as you hit "Copy SP" on the touch screen, make sure you are holding down the pound (#) key. Then you should be able to find 5104.

You can only change 5104 once, so one you enable it you won't be able to change it back to counting larger paper as 1 click instead of 2.

Lanier 6725 copier: Paper is always jamming and

I have worked for Lanier for 20 years, the 6725 was a great machine, but getting parts, spending $$$ and still having an old copier. Lanier is owned by Ricoh and all machines are Ricoh with a Lanier sticker on it. Its time.
-Carl, please let me know if this helps.

Adding developer to the new ricoh aficio mp 1500

Are you a tech? I suspect not. You need to remove the drum unit, disassemble, separate the drum from the development unit. Remove cover of developer unit, add developer, reassemble, and run SP2214 to calibrate.
This is NOT a procedure to be performed by an end user...no disrespect intended.

It is not recomended to enter service mode on this model if a service tech replaced the fuser they owe you to reset this fuser counter. -Carl, Ricoh tech.

Lanier 5622 Prints vertical lines

You could remove the color and black&white drum units and check from below the units to visually observe lines on all the 4 drums. If so, you have to change the drum unit/units. Drums occassionally get damaged before life this way due to solid toner particles inside the toner bottle.Always "shake the toners very well" before replacement, and if you print rarely, then remove the toners and do the shaking to prevent clogging due to inactivity.
